"Birdman" just won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography, so what's next for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s surreal comedy-drama? Why, a return trip to theaters, of course.

TheWrap reports the film, which stars Michael Keaton, Ed Norton and Emma Stone, will make its way back into more than 1,000 theaters this weekend.

The site calls the move by Fox Searchlight a bold one because the film is available on Blu-ray and DVD, and it was initially released just four months ago. However, after a wildly successful awards season, "Birdman's" cache has never been higher. In other words, not long ago, only your cinephile friends were talking about this movie, and now your grandparents want to know what all the fuss is about.

With the boost this weekend, "Birdman" will have its widest theatrical exposure yet. The film, which was produced for $18 million, has earned $77 million worldwide but don't be surprised if that number increases dramatically. Its main competition this weekend will be the Will Smith-Margot Robbie con thriller "Focus" and the latest Blumhouse horror offering "The Lazarus Effect."
