Oscar Isaac's take on Steven Grant in Moon Knight originally confused Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

In an interview with the Radio Times, Isaac explained that he started doing his version of Grant around the house for his family and later brought the idea to Feige, despite the character having not been "necessarily written that way at all." Feige approved of Isaac's take on Grant and Moon Knight. However, the Marvel Studios President later told Isaac, "[T]hey didn't know what the hell I was doing. And they weren't sure it was going to work at all. But you know, in the end I'm glad we did that, because everyone says it kind of makes the show."

Announced in 2019, Moon Knight follows Marc Spector, a mercenary with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Grant is one of his alters and, as early trailers indicate, works at a British gift shop. He ends up involved in a deadly mystery surrounding the Egyptian gods and taking on Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke), who has frequently been compared to real-world cult leaders.

It's not known Isaac will next appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Moon Knight. However, the actor said earlier this month that he'd like to see a Midnight Sons team-up in the future as well as Moon Knight partnering up with Bruce Banner/Hulk. Additionally, there have been persistent reports that Mahershala Ali will appear in Moon Knight as Blade, and Marvel Studios' upcoming Halloween special appears to focus on Werewolf by Night, whose eponymous comic Spector debuted in.

Isaac is an award-winning actor known for his roles in such films as 2014's A Most Violent Year and 2015's Ex Machina. He also played Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel series as well as the titular villain in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse. Additionally, Isaac voiced Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099 in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He will reprise that role for the 2022 sequel.

Created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Moon Knight first appeared in 1975's Werewolf by Night #32. While working as a mercenary, Spector died and was revived by the Egyptian moon god, Khonshu. Over the years, he's served as a key member of such teams as the Avengers and Midnight Sons.

Created by Jeremy Slater, Moon Knight premieres March 30 on Disney+.
