AMC has greenlit Orphan Black: Echoes, an official sequel series to the acclaimed show.

As reported by VarietyOrphan Black: Echoes takes place in the near future and will follow a group of women who are seemingly drawn together as they each try and figure out the mystery surrounding their identity. The show will reportedly focus on the theme of "scientific manipulation of human existence," and will tell a story of love and betrayal. The series will be helmed by Anna Fishko, who will serve as Echoes executive producer and writer. John Fawcett, who both co-created and directed several key episodes of the original Orphan Black series, is also confirmed to return as a director and executive producer on the sequel show.

Little is known about the upcoming series but it is believed that Echoes will tell an entirely new story that will not star Tatiana Maslany as the original protagonist Sarah Manning. At the time of writing, the project's cast has yet to be revealed.

Orphan Black is a science-fiction thriller that follows Sarah Manning, a young woman that discovers that she's been cloned. Together with the different versions of herself, she becomes wrapped up in a major conspiracy as someone tries to eliminate her and her clones one at a time. The series earned almost universal praise from critics, netting Maslany three Emmy Awards for Best Lead Actress.

Orphan Black: Echoes does not yet have a release date.
