The first teaser for the final season of "Orphan Black" is just that; it doesn't reveal many secrets about the new season, but it promises to take fans on a "final trip." It starts by using the visual of train tracks, calling back to the very first scene of the first episode. The train tracks morph into a double helix, which turn into the show's logo. It's a cool graphic, and with the voice over from main character Sarah Manning, is probably just enough to get the series' passionate fanbase desperately excited.
The show, which has been described by co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson as "our weird little show," is known for the star-making performances of Tatiana Maslany, who plays not just the majority of the main ensemble, but a large number of the supporting roles as well. In all, she's brought more than a dozen different fully-realized characters to life, performances which earned her an Emmy in 2015.
The final seconds of the trailer promise a premiere date: Saturday, June 10.
“‘Orphan Black’ is a thrilling, genre-bending ride that has captured our fans’ imaginations and hearts like no other show,” Sarah Barnett, president of BBC America, said in a statement when the show was picked up for its final season. “Our genius team of actors, writers and producers have, time after time, taken us to a place of awe, delight and utter shock and surprise. Tatiana has been and continues to be a complete revelation, hers is one of the most remarkable performances on television, and she is joined by an extraordinary cast. We can’t wait to take our incredibly passionate audience on one final gobsmacking clone adventure.”
Co-creators Fawcett Graeme Manson added, “We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters. The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show.”
