The comic book "Virgil" is making the jump from Kickstarter to Image Comics, as revealed during Image Expo. Steve Orlando, who is currently writing "Midnighter" for DC Comics and previously wrote "Undertow" for Image, took the stage at the expo to talk about "Virgil," a series that was initially backed by fans through a Kickstarter campaign.

Orlando said he was inspired to write "Virgil," which features art by JD Faith, after watching the Quentin Tarantino film "Django Unchained." After seeing the movie, Orlando says he asked himself, "What if Quentin Tarantino had balls?" and had put a gay couple in it. "['Virgil'] is not blaxploitation, it's queerploitation," he added.

The resulting series, "Virgil," follows a gay cop in Jamaica who gets outed and must then fight his way across the country to -- as the series' Kickstarter description reads -- "save his man and get revenge!"
