The Avengers Unity Division was formed to help improve Mutant and Human relations in the aftermath of the Phoenix Five's takeover of Earth. The team was introduced in the first volume of Uncanny Avengers during the first Marvel Now relaunch. The title was supposed to be the core title of the new status quo but ended up replaced by Jonathan Hickman's Avengers run.

The team's initial lineup features a mix of Avengers and X-Men, including some of the strongest members of either team.

9 Captain America

Captain America with the flag behind him

While Captain America might be the most well-known and respected superhero in the Unity Division's initial lineup, he by far its weakest member power-wise. While Captain America has impressive abilities thanks to the Super-Soldier Serum, they pale in comparison to the powers used by his fellow Unity Division members.

Despite being the weakest member of the team's first lineup, Captain America stills play a key role. His years of being a superhero have given him a great amount of experience, making him a great choice for the team's initial leader. Also, while Captain America's powers are simply enhanced human attributes, they are strong enough to deal with most threats that come his way.

8 Wolverine

Wolverine

Wolverine has two main powers: his adamantium claws and his healing factor. He also has an enhanced sense of smell that makes him an excellent tracker. These powers make Wolverine a dangerous threat, especially with his claws able to cut through anything.

While Wolverine is dangerous, he has some noticeable weaknesses. Notably, Wolverine has to get in close to do any damage. His healing factor also does not make him any more durable than the average human, meaning that heavy damage could take him out.

7 Wasp

Marvel's Wasp Using Her Powers

A member of every single incarnation of the Unity Division, Wasp is a superheroine that many people underestimate. Her size-changing is very useful, allowing her to infiltrate hostile facilities and hide from enemy detection. This size-changing ability combined with her ability to sting her opponents with bio-electricity makes her a danger that can't be seen coming.

Wasp's powers are only helped by her bio-synthetic wing implants. While limited to when she shrinks herself, these wings allow her to move across huge distances despite her small size. These wings are also helpful in allowing Wasp to reach places where her sting will be more effective.

6 Havok

Havok in his inverted evil costume after AXIS

The leader of the Unity Division for a majority of its original incarnations existence, Havok's tenure was not a happy one with him ending up scared & mentally vulnerable to the inversion spell. Power-wise, Havok can absorb energy and then shoot it out his body. He can gain this energy from cosmic energy his body naturally absorbs or any energy fired at him.

This makes Havok a hero who can take some damage and then return it to his opponents. The only reason that Havok is not higher on the list is the fact that his power level is dependent on his opponent.

5 Sunfire

Sunfire Throwing Flame

Japan's primer mutant superhero and long-time erstwhile ally to the X-men joined the Unity Division to avenge Red Skull's desecration of Professor X's corpse. Sunfire's mutation allows him to absorb the Sun's radiation which grants him some powerful abilities. These abilities include flight, powerful energy blasts, plasma shielding, and the ability to sense heat signatures.

His ability to form plasma shields also grants him a defense against non energy-based attacks. Sunfire's heat sense ability also grants his power a surveillance application that all the members, besides Wolverine, lack.

4 Rogue

X-Men Rogue

Long-time X-men and member of every incarnation of the Unity Division, Rogue probably has the most potential out of the founding members. Her power to absorb the memory of any person she touches makes her a valuable ally. Given the average power level of the Avengers Unity Squad, Rouge has some nice variety in her reach.

3 Wonder Man

Wonder Man glowing with purple energy

Wonder Man has been infused with Iconic Energy that has granted him superhuman strength, speed, and the ability of flight.  He can also transform himself into a being of ionic energy in which he is practically immortal. In this form, he can also fire Ionic Energy out of his body.

Wonder Man's powers are impressive on their own but their potential is what's truly staggering. Wonder Man has been seen with a bunch of powers outside of his standard powerset like size-changing, making energy constructs, and teleportation.

2 Thor

Marvel's Thor

The Avenger's resident God of Thunder has long been one of the most powerful members of any team that he's been on, with his Asgardian heritage granting him strength, durability, and energy manipulation ability beyond that of mortal men. Thor's power is only boosted by his signature hammer, Mjolnir, that allows him to wield lighting and teleport whenever he wants.

Thor is the most powerful member of the Avengers in a straight-up fight. His Asgardian nature makes him nearly impossible to kill, with the only way being through magical means. Thor's only weakness is that he grows weaker when separate from Mjolnir, but even then he still stronger than the average man.

1 Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch is surprised by something behind her.

Scarlet Witch has the power to warp reality to her will. This usually occurs through manipulating the probability of something happening, redirecting an object, or making the environment shift in her favor.

While that's impressive on its own, Scarlet Witch using her reality-warping ability to their fullest extent is what makes her top this list. Using her power to its fullest extent, she can alter reality to an extreme degree. This alteration ranges from raising the dead, shifting reality to an alternate history, to depowering a majority of the Mutant Population. Scarlet Witch is very much a superheroine not to underestimate.
