The Arconia just added another high-profile tenant as three-time Oscar-winner Meryl Streep joins the cast of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building Season 3.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, news of Streep's casting was made public by her new co-star Selena Gomez, who shared the video announcement on Instagram. "I could cry," Gomez wrote, "season 3 is coming!" Also featured in the video are series regulars Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Season 2's Andrea Martin and Paul Rudd. No details are available on who Streep will play nor how prominent her character will be in Season 3.

Also joining the fray for Only Murders in the Building Season 3 are Jesse Williams, Tina Fey, Vanessa Aspillaga, Adina Verson and Ryan Broussard. Rudd is returning to the series following his cameo as Ben Glenroy at the end of the series' second season, while Williams (of Grey's Anatomy fame) joined the ensemble back in October 2022.

A critical and ratings hit for Hulu, Only Murders in the Building is the streamer's most popular comedy and has garnered 17 Emmy Nominations following its first season, including nods for Martin and Short's lead performances, writing (for Martin and co-creator John Hoffman) and a bid for Outstanding Comedy Series. Streep has previously appeared in small screen roles in Big Little Lies, Web Therapy, Angels in America and The Holocaust. She earned Emmys for her performances in the latter two. In addition to Only Murders in the Building, Streep will star in the upcoming Apple TV+ anthology series Extrapolations from Scott Z. Burns.

Only Murders in the Building's Season 3 Plot Remains a Mystery

Little is known about the plot of Only Murders in the Building Season 3, but the death of Paul Rudd's Ben Glenroy is said to be the focal point of the story. "I'm about six weeks into writing with the room for Season 3, and what we have planned is insane and so exciting. It's also very twisty," co-creator John Hoffman said back in August 2022 following the show's renewal in July. "We try to check ourselves, like, 'OK, what can we do and how can we do this differently?' and 'What feels like a different take? A fresh take?' So I can only say hang tight! There's a lot going on, and certainly the victim is colorfully drawn so far."

Hoffman also revealed that Gomez's Mabel Mora and Cara Delevingne's Alice Banks will not pursue their Season 2 relationship further in Only Murders in the Building's third outing. "Alice's storyline [resolved itself] in a rather sweet way, with the beginning of a reparation in that friendship [with Mabel]," Hoffman said. "I like the chumminess that's there. But I don't think we're aiming towards any more of a love relationship."

No release date is available for Only Murders in the Building Season 3, though the series is expected to return sometime in 2023.
