Despite widespread declarations of "I'm so over 'The Walking Dead,'" audiences apparently just can't seem to get enough of sadistically bleak zombie narratives.

Variety reports that online piracy of last weekend's season seven premiere came with a sharp uptick from the previous year's count, according to the piracy-tracking firm Tecxipio. By their figures, roughly 600,544 illegal downloads occurred within first 24 hours of the episode's airing, whereas the season six debut resulted in about 569,772.

America lost its 2015 gold medal for piracy, as well. A demographic breakdown saw Brazil taking the honor of most downloads -- 175,724 -- followed by France and the U.S. at 153,729 and 150,582. Time will tell whether many fans' promises to swear off the show following last Sunday's events will hold true...although if that actually happens, we suspect there might be a slight uptick in illegal downloads from those out there too ashamed to admit they're still just as addicted to the hit show.

Airing Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on AMC, "The Walking Dead" stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes, Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, Melissa McBride as Carol Peleteir, Steven Yeun as Glenn Rhee, Lauren Cohan as Maggie Green, Danai Gurira as Michonne and more.
