Metal Bat is one of several interesting characters in the One-Punch Man world. He's almost the antithesis of your typical hero, one with over-the-top powers that are ever-expanding. Metal Bat is just a guy with a bat who can hit things really hard, not unlike Saitama, who only ever needs his fists to take people down.

What makes Metal Bat so interesting is that he has a Hulk-like quality to him, one where his powers seem to consistently ramp up the angrier he gets and that he has a very clear weakness by way of his sister, Zenko. The fact he's never been a central character leaves many of these facets unknown to the average fan.

10 Dress based On Typical Juvenile Delinquent

This shouldn't be too much of a surprise when his character is taken into consideration. He's a brash and loud character who isn't against making a huge scene. He's your bad boy or class bully who thinks they are the king of the entire school.

Having his attire based on a real-life equivalent makes sense, especially when the clothing makes it easy to fight in. If his bat were replaced with a kendo stick, he'd be right at home in a dojo.

9 Lowest Intelligence Stat Of S-Class Heroes

When you're based on your typical delinquent, intelligence is never going to be high on the list of traits. Metal Bat is always meant to be a bruiser, your barbarian style character if this were Dungeons & Dragons.

What is surprising is just how low his intelligence is rated, coming in at a whopping 3. That's shown again and again in the show as, like Saitama, he struggles to hold back, often killing his opponents before he can ever get any answers out of them.

8 Real Name Bad

It was revealed in one of Murata's streams that Metal Bat's real name is actually Bad. It's possibly a pun on his weapon of choice, the metal bat, but also fits his personality perfectly.

From his attire to how he acts, he's your typical bad boy in about every way possible, right down to the fact he has a softer side that he tries to hide from everyone. As with all things One-Punch, the satire dripped all over his character is very well done and just like many bad boys with a heart of gold.

7 Could Have Killed Garou

With how strong Garou is, it's surprising that Metal Bat could have easily killed the villain during their battle had he wanted to. Murata confirmed that had his sister not stepped in, that's precisely what would have happened. His relationship with Zenko is that strong that he'd never do anything to harm it, especially when he'd always promised to not have violence happen in her presence.

It puts a nice bit of credence to his claim that he could take down a dragon-level threat, despite having never done so by himself as of yet.

6 Fighting Spirit His True Power

While others have more typical superpowers associated with them, Metal Bat is focused on his fighting spirit, which boosts his powers beyond what his body should be capable of. It grants him the endurance and durability to withstand multiple bone fractures and blood loss to withstand multiple fights back to back.

It gives him the strength to send out shockwaves so strong that they can produce cracks in the ground and level buildings in its wake. It essentially causes him to become The Hulk sans the green skin.

5 Lacking In Intelligence, Not Perception

Senior-Centipede-One-Punch-Man

Metal Bat is one of the more perceptive fighters in One-Punch Man, despite his lack of formal intelligence. He's a man who's been fighting most of his life, and that translates well into being able to read others in combat.

He was the first to discover Melzargard's weakness and picked up on the fact that Elder Centipede continued to shield his face, rightly assuming it was the monster's weak point. It shows that intelligence isn't everything and doesn't always translate to battle prowess.

4 He Used To Use Normal Bats

Before getting his now-indestructible weapon, he used to use metal bats you could get at the store. Considering how powerful he is, it's not that surprising that these bats never lasted long. He'd need a new one after every swing, the metal shattering as easily as a wooden bat would.

Having your weapon of choice break on you in the heat of battle would put a hamper on your abilities as a hero, something Metal Bat was smart enough to remedy as soon as possible.

3 Zenko Brings Out The Good In Him

Zenko may be the only character in the whole series that Metal Bat actually likes as he rarely seems to interact with others other than the prodding of Flashy Flash. She's his everything in the world, capable of getting him to hold back his violent tendencies against Garou (doing the same to Garou), even if his instincts told him to do otherwise.

According to the databook, his main hobbies are going to Zenko's piano recitals and getting to see her smile. He lives to protect her.

2 Not A Fan Of The VGS

Carnage Kabuto

The VGS or Virtual Genocide System was used by Genos as a way to gain data and experience, further enhancing his ability. At the time, Carnage Kabuto was the strongest monster he'd ever faced and was used as the basis for the study. Metal Bat was one of the heroes he got to help simulate fights for him, the S-class hero only lasting 3 minutes with Kabuto before the fight was called off.

He argued rather vehemently that the system didn't properly account for his fighting spirit, that the injuries wouldn't have been enough to stop the battle.

1 He Quits The Hero Association

After the battle with the Monster Association in the webcomic, Metal Bat decides to leave the Hero Association for unknown reasons and instead joins the Neo Heroes. It's founded by Blue, the son of Blast, who finds the current Hero Association to be self-serving and lacking what true heroes should.

It's doubtful that Metal Bat feels the same way, despite his arguments with his fellow heroes. It's more likely he's there as a spy, considering the hidden shady side to the Neo Heroes.
