There are a lot of interesting and unique characters in One Punch Man. All of the heroes and villains have different abilities and personalities, and they all have particular character designs that set them apart from other characters. Metal Bat is a great example of this, as one of the more amusing characters who seem to be made up solely of anime archetypes.

He dresses in the style often seen from delinquents in high school anime, with a pompadour and a modified school uniform. He carries a bat with which he fights monsters. He’s brash and arrogant but has a soft spot for his little sister, for whom he would do anything. In these ways, he’s a classic anime protagonist and a fan-favorite character of whom there is a ton of amazing fan art.

10 With A Cat

Metal Bat is an aggressive punk with a big mouth a lot of the time, but everyone knows he’s just a big softie when no one else is looking. This fan art piece is a great example of that.

Here, Bad has his bat propped on his shoulder, clearly ready to get into it with anyone who needs to be taught a lesson. But right now, he’s relaxed, a little smile on his face as he scratches a cat between the ears.

9 Popping Veins

Metal Bat does not like to be underestimated. It’s one of the ways that a person can end up in a serious fight with him pretty quickly.

The artist here seems to have understood this idea of him pretty well, since he looks deeply angry, with veins popping out of his head. He hasn’t quite taken hold of his bat yet, but it’s only a matter of time before he starts swinging.

8 Traditional Art

This artist has drawn Metal Bat in a totally different style than he appears in One Punch Man. He doesn’t have the recognizable round eye and face shape that most One Punch Man characters have and instead has a long face and severe eyes and eyebrows.

The artist worked traditional, meaning they drew and colored him by hand using colored pencils, which is impressive with so much detailing in the coloring.

7 Digital Coloring

This artist did an-oft used technique for this drawing of Metal Bat. They drew him traditionally, using a black marker, but instead of also coloring him with markers, they colored him with digital brushes.

It gives the colored image a sleek, almost shiny coloring style that is much different than the inks look in just black.

6 Chibi Style

Even the toughest guys can be drawn in a really adorable style, as shown by this particular rendering of Metal Bat. In classic chibi style, he doesn’t quite have fingers or toes from the looks of it and has to hold his bat with both hands because of this.

Still, while his expression isn’t quite a scowl, it’s definitely grumpy. This only makes sense considering his attitude.

5 Big Brother Goal

Metal Bat is a tough cookie who tries to look serious and like he could kick someone’s butt at any moment. But everyone knows he has a major soft spot: his little sister. Still, his love for her often means he gets into fights anyway.

For this artist, who has done an amazing portrait of Metal Bat snarling, Bad is the best kind of big brother out there, one who would do anything for his sister.

4 Nothing Gets In His Way

When fans first meet Metal Bat in One Punch Man, he and his little sister are on their way to her piano recital. It’s very important to her, and for that reason, it’s important to Bad too.

But he has to deal with a monster before he can go with her. This fan artist has shown the aftermath of that battle, with monster blood dripping from his bat.

3 In A Different Style

This artist has taken the Metal Bat character design and applied their own look to the character. He’s still wearing his usual outfit, but he has a much more cartoony face.

It works really well for the character since his eyes are huge and intense and the use of heavy lines and shading on his nose makes him look even more aggressive.

2 Talk Why Don’t We?

This sketch is a very cool take on Bad. Here he’s not dressed in his heroes uniform and doesn’t particularly look like he’s getting ready to fight a monster.

Instead, he looks a little bit more on the sensitive side, which is aided by the design of the image, which includes a track listing as if he’s posing on the cover of an album.

1 Bomber Jacket

Nothing makes a guy look really intense and cool like a really great jacket. This particular style of jacket is also regularly seen on the archetypal Japanese bad boy, wearing a tracksuit and ready to pick a fight with anyone who looks at him the wrong way.

This artist has given Bad a less intense character design, making him look more like a fashionable teenager than a member of a street gang.
