A fan artist recently released an animated sequence inspired by the hit shonen series One-Punch Man.

The artist, who goes by the handle Detox112 on Reddit, featured their "Serious Punch Squared Animation" on their page. They also posted the video on their "Atserc" YouTube channel under the title, "Saitama forgets to hold back and almost destroys the earth." The sequence features One-Punch Man squaring off against a villain and almost destroying Earth in the process. One-Punch Man's fellow hero, Blast, then teams up with several other heroes to deal with Saitama's resulting energy wave. According to Detox112, they created the animation by using Photoshop to extract and color characters from the manga. The artist then used Blender for the animation, backgrounds and effects, which range from dynamic lighting and explosion effects to lens and distortion effects. Since many of the backgrounds are 3D, the artist used Blender's "Nuke" tool to seamlessly combine all the individual assets used, "making them feel like they are all part of the same scene."

One-Punch Man Fans Had High Praise for the Animation

Viewers met Detox112's animation with an overwhelmingly positive response online. On Reddit, the post received tons of comments gushing that "Serious Punch Squared" is essentially a studio-quality product and that Detox112 deserves a spot on the animation team for Season 3 of One-Punch Man. As of Oct. 31, the animation has accrued more than 20,000 views on Reddit and over 176,000 on YouTube. Detox112's other works include animation edits for One Piece that showcase different variations of Luffy's fight against his enemy Dolflamingo. These videos are also available on the artist's Atserc YouTube channel.

Originally a webcomic created by ONE, One-Punch Man revolves around a superhero named Saitama that becomes bored with his job after training to the point where he can take out his enemies with just one punch. Madhouse adapted the story into a 12-episode series in 2015, and its popularity led to the release of a second season in 2019. The anime's upcoming third season will have Saitama facing off against powerful antagonists like Hero Hunter Garo, who fights on behalf of vicious non-human creatures called "monsters" that are frequently thwarted by heroes like One-Punch Man. Season three's release date is unknown at this time.
