A lot of One Piece fans are hoping for Yamato to join the Straw Hat Pirates on their adventures. Her bubbly personality and raw power make her a good fit for the crew. She has also expressed her desire to head out to sea with Luffy. Nothing's set in stone, but it seems likely that Yamato will find her way aboard the Thousand Sunny. At least for a little while.

If Yamato really does spend an extended period among Straw Hats, that can lead to all sorts of possibilities storywise. Her potential interactions with individual crew members could result in anything from deep and meaningful conversations to ridiculous hijinx. Here's an idea of what life aboard the Sunny would be like between Yamato and each of the Straw Hats.

Luffy

Many fans already know what Luffy and Yamato have in common-- Portgas D. Ace. They both knew him well when he was alive (especially Luffy). They look back on their time with him fondly. This connection is also why Yamato was so eager for Luffy to reach Wano. However, they only got to discuss Ace briefly when they first met. If Yamato boards the Sunny, this would be far from their last conversation about him. They might even discuss him while drinking sake together, as Yamato had always hoped they would.

Beyond that, Luffy and Yamato would get along like siblings. They're alike in how excitable, naive, and impulsive they can be. They're the kind of people who would share a brain cell and lead each other into trouble. It would be up to Nami, Usopp, and the rest of their more rational crewmates to rein them in.

Zoro

Yamato would have a couple of things to talk about with Zoro. For one thing, the Pirate Hunter greatly resembles Shimotsuki Ushimaru, a samurai to whom the Oni Princess is indebted. Not only did he save her from starvation as a child, but he also helped her read Oden's journal.

Another noteworthy thing about Zoro is his Three Sword Style. It's reminiscent of Oden's Two Sword Style. If Yamato wanted to, she could learn swordsmanship from Zoro to be closer to her idol. It's hard to imagine her losing her kanabō, but maybe she'd get a second club. She also might hound the swordsman to let her borrow Enma.

Yamato, Zoro, and Nami would also make good drinking buddies. With Ace gone, the first needs someone else to share a bottle of sake with. That said, if the son of Kaido inherited his drunk phases, their consumption could be limited.

Nami

One Piece Nami

Nami would likely get along with Yamato as she gets along with every other girl. She tends to connect quickly with girls and form sisterly bonds with them. She's also compassionate enough to overlook Yamato's familial connection to Kaidō, even if it initially raises a red flag.

They could also go shopping together for a change of clothes. While Yamato looks fine in her current outfit, it's a common trend for the Straw Hats to change outfits wherever they go. If she joined the crew, she would partake in this trend.

Nami might also give Yamato the same treatment she would one of the boys on her crew. This would mean subjecting her to insurmountable debt. It would also mean beating her to a pulp (to the otherwise durable son of Kaido's confusion) when she says or does something stupid. It would be much different from her dynamic with Robin.

Usopp

Yamato is the kind of person who works perfectly off of Usopp. The Straw Hat sniper regularly overreacts or calls out his crewmates when they say or do something foolish or crazy. Yamato isn't quite an idiot, but she does display the sort of absentmindedness that would drive Usopp up a wall. Even Luffy has had to play the straight man around her.

On the positive side, they are easily excitable, as are Luffy and Chopper. All four of them are the most likely to run ahead of the rest of the Straw Hats in a new place and get a good look at everything. Yamato's fascination with the outside world would breathe new life into the Straw Hats' adventures.

The Oni Princess might also like some tall tales. She enjoys heroic legends whether she believes them or not. This makes her and Chopper ideal audience members for God Usopp.

Sanji

Yamato's interactions with Sanji depend on how hard she leans into being Kozuki Oden. If she'd honestly rather be seen as a man, Sanji would have to restrain his carnal desires and respect "his" pronouns. For how beautiful Yamato is, this would drive him crazy. Alternatively, since Oden was a notorious womanizer, the two of them (and sometimes Brook) could have a perv-out together over some cute girls.

On a more serious note, they both have similar family issues. They both hate their heritage because of their fathers. Whenever they're ready, they could discuss this over oden cooked by Sanji.

Chopper

Yamato and Chopper have the potential for all sorts of hijinx together. In one of the Straw Hats' more lax moments, there could be a scene with them getting their horns and antlers interlocked by accident. There could also be an ironic scene where a human-formed Chopper rides Yamato's animal form into battle.

Being fellow Zoan Devil Fruit users gives Chopper and Yamato similar options for improvement. Chopper could potentially develop Rumble Balls that allow Yamato to transform in all sorts of new ways just like him. Yamato with her own Monster Point would be absolutely devastating.

Robin

Nico Robin post timeskip

Yamato and Nico Robin have a surprising amount in common. Their lives were turned upside down when they were eight years old. They struggled with the harshness of those around them for 20 years. Additionally, Luffy eventually changed their lives for the better when they were 28 years old. That also means Yamato, currently 28, is closer to Robin (30) in age than Nami (20), which is hard to tell based on how she acts.

Yamato might also share Robin's tendency for dark thoughts. After all, she lived among the Beast Pirates for 20 years. Even if she didn't pick up their cruel sense of humor, prolonged exposure to their violence could have influenced how she views her surroundings. Therefore, the next time Robin says something a little off-color, Yamato might chime in with something more or equally disturbing. And then Usopp would beg them to dial their cynicism back.

Franky

Franky smiling on the Thousand Sunny

Franky is the only other Straw Hat Yamato has met so far. He helped her, Momonosuke, and Shinobu escape from Sasaki of the Tobiroppo. In return, she knocked out Hatcha of the Numbers. These two will have to properly thank each other once the dust has fully settled on Onigashima.

Since Ymato has more in common with the boys than the girls, she'd probably get excited over Franky's eccentricities. This would include his inventions, poses, and robotic mannerisms. She'd also wonder why neither Nami nor Robin is excited by any of this, to which they would continue to stare blankly.

Yamato would also have some manly stories for Franky to bawl over. Besides knowing Oden's story down to the literal letter, she can also talk about the samurai prisoners, Ace, or herself enduring 20 years among the Beast Pirates. Franky might even pull out his old guitar for the occasion.

Brook

Soul King Brook Performing In New Design

Brook and Yamato might compete for a little since they're both ice users. Then again, their powers work slightly differently. Yamato's powers specifically revolve around freezing things and even creating ice constructs. Brook's freezing is more an aftereffect of his accessing the "chill of the Underworld." If Yamato joins the crew, that could force the Soul King to explore his powers and find unique ways to use them.

Yamato also adds to the group of tall Straw Hat Pirates. At 263 cm, she'd be supplanting Franky (240 cm) as one of the crew's tallest members. She and Brook (277 cm) can briefly rib the cyborg for this, only for Jimbei (301 cm) to wonder what they're talking about.

Also, Brook would naturally ask to see Yamato's panties as he does with all women. Yamato might reveal that she only wears men's underwear. Brook may or may not be into this.

Jimbei

One Piece Jinbei

Jimbei is another member of the Straw Hats with a close connection to Ace. The way these two first encounter Ace is even similar. They both fought Fire Fist to a draw when he was looking to challenge an Emperor and became friends with him afterward. If the former Warldord ever caught Yamato and Luffy sharing sake and reminiscing about Ace, he might sit down and join them.

Yamato and Jimbei would also both be relative newcomers aboard the Sunny. The two might work together to understand the crew's dynamic and find their respective niches. This could lead to both hijinx and bonding moments between them.
