One Piece is famous for having some of the most iconic characters in the history of the anime. You can pick out tons of characters who are unique and almost perfectly written. One of the characters who could very well be placed on this list is Blackbeard.
Marshall D. Teach or simply Blackbeard is one of the Yonko, who reign over the New World. Blackbeard has gained a lot of power in a short period of time. From being a nobody to becoming the Admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates is a huge improvement. However, Blackbeard is among the most detested characters in the series. Why? Because he has done some pretty horrible things. In this list, we will be discussing some of the worst things that Blackbeard has done.
10 Running Away
Blackbeard is a cunning man, who plans everything before doing anything. This way of dealing with things has been good for him. However, this makes him seem pathetic at times.
A lot of people don't like characters running away from challenges. One such example is when he fled away when Akainu came to the island he was on. This was after the Paramount War, so Blackbeard had two devil fruits at that time. Also, Blackbeard wasn't alone, he had his entire crew with him.
9 Destroying Marineford
Blackbeard came to Marineford after freeing the criminals in Impel Down. His appearance shocked everyone at Marineford as they had no idea what happened at Impel Down. Blackbeard had another cunning plan which was ready to be executed once he got rid of Whitebeard. Blackbeard used his newly gained power at Marineford to destroy the entire place.
He also clashed against Sengoku, who tried to stop him from causing any further damage.
8 Jewelry Bonney
Jewelry Bonney is one of the members of the Worst Generation. She is the captain of the Bonney Pirates. Bonney has an unnamed devil fruit that allows her to manipulate her age and the age of others. The World Government has an interest in Bonney for some reason and Blackbeard knew this.
So, he took it upon himself to capture Bonney and hand her over to the World Government. Eventually, he did catch her and used her as a bait to get Navy ships, but his plans were ruined when Akainu arrived at the island.
7 Invasion of Impel Down
Another of Blackbeard's grand schemes was the invasion of Impel Down. He wanted the position of a Shichibukai for only one reason and that was to gain access to Impel Down. Blackbeard broke into Impel Down and freed the most notorious criminals. He made them fight each other and the ones who were still standing joined his crew.
The new recruits were— Avalo Pizzaro, Vasco Shot, Catarina Devon, San Juan Wolf and Shiryu (he joined the crew after turning against Magellan). With the new recruits by his side, Blackbeard went to Marineford to carry out the next plan.
6 Killed Absalom
Absalom was one of many antagonists of the Thriller Bark arc. The arc saw the Straw Hats going arriving at Thriller Bark in order to help Brook. Absalom was one of the underlings of Gekko Moria, who was a Shichibukai at that time. Absalom had the Suke Suke no Mi, which allowed him to turn invisible.
Absalom made enemies with Sanji after he kidnapped Nami and another reason was that he had eaten Sanji's dream devil fruit. During the Wano arc, it was revealed by Blackbeard that Absalom had been killed and his devil fruit was now with Shiryu.
5 Caught Ace
Ace had set out to capture Blackbeard and make him repent for his sins. Blackbeard had broken the iron rule on Whitebeard's ship and it was an unpardonable sin. Blackbeard was a part of Ace's division so he took it upon himself to capture Blackbeard. Ace finally met Blackbeard at Banaro Island, and Blackbeard asked Ace to join his crew.
Ace obviously refused and the two of them clashed. It was later revealed that Blackbeard was the victor of the fight and he had caught Ace and handed him over to the World Government. With Ace's capture, Blackbeard was given the position of Shichibukai.
4 Payback War
After taking Whitebeard's devil fruit, Blackbeard gained tremendous power and he knew that very few people would be able to stop him. So, Blackbeard clashed against the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates, who were led by Marco. Blackbeard and his crew were able to defeat them and thus, they claimed the position of Whitebeard Pirates.
3 Stole Whitebeard's Power
Blackbeard ate the Yami Yami no Mi after he ran away from the Whitebeard Pirates. Yami Yami no Mi is a logia type devil fruit that grants the user the power of darkness. Blackbeard can drag opponents towards himself and they can't do anything to get out. Also, this devil fruit can nullify the power of other devil fruits.
The only real drawback of Yami Yami no Mi is that it doesn't make Blackbeard intangible. However, Blackbeard took care of that as well. After Whitebeard was killed, Blackbeard somehow managed to steal his devil fruit. It is unknown how Blackbeard managed to do it, but he somehow took his devil fruit.
2 Killed Thatch
Thatch was the fourth division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. As we know Blackbeard was a member of Whitebeard Pirates, he was lying in wait to get his hands on the Yami Yami no Mi.
The opportunity finally came when Thatch got his hands on the devil fruit. Blackbeard knew that Thatch had the devil fruit that he desired. So, he killed Thatch in cold blood and hence, broke the iron rule of the Whitebeard Pirates. This led to Ace chasing him around.
1 Killed Whitebeard
If there is anything that proves that Blackbeard is the most spineless character in One Piece then it is this fight. Blackbeard arrived at Marineford with his new recruits to rub salt into the wounds of the Whitebeard Pirates.
Teach was pretty confident in his abilities, but Whitebeard taught him a lesson. He ruthlessly thrashed Blackbeard and Blackbeard immediately recognized the threat. He ganged up with his crew and fired countless bullets at Whitebeard, which finally led to his death.
