The Straw Hat crew hails from the East Blue of the world of One Piece and is led by none other than the protagonist of the series, Monkey D. Luffy. So far, Luffy has recruited 9 members for his crew and, including himself, there are 10 Straw Hats in total.

His search for new crewmates certainly hasn't stopped, however, and two of the most popular characters to take the spot of the 11th Straw Hat pirate are Kaido's son, Yamato, and a rabbit Mink named Carrot, both of which have plenty of good reasons to join Luffy on his journey to the Final Island.

10 Yamato: His Connection To Ace

Yamato One Piece

Yamato is one of the few characters from Wano Country who know the man named Portgas D. Ace, Luffy's elder brother. Ace visited the land of Wano around 2 years before the time-skip and during that time, he became friends with Yamato as well.

While their exact relationship isn't known just yet, Yamato pointed out that since he's Ace's friend, Luffy should allow him to join his crew and travel the seas with him.

9 Carrot: Already An Unofficial Member

Carrot One Piece

Carrot snuck onto the ship of the Straw Hat Pirates moments before they set off for Whole Cake Island. As expected, she traveled with the crew to the island and followed them to Wano, where the war against Kaido is taking place.

Among the fans, Carrot is already very popular and the fantastic job that she did throughout the Whole Cake Island arc has warranted a special place in their hearts for her.

8 Yamato: Is An Ally

Yamato Vs Ulti

Yamato is one of the most recent character introductions in One Piece and he became an ally of Luffy within a few chapters. Although Luffy has made quite a bunch of allies during the arc, what sets Yamato apart from them is the fact that he's Kaido's very own son and as such, has tremendous importance in the story.

A character with such significance won't simply be cast aside by Eiichiro Oda once all is done. On the contrary, the chances of him traveling with the crew appear much greater.

7 Carrot: Carries Pedro's Will

Pedro, moments before his death in One Piece's Whole Cake Island arc

Pedro was a Jaguar Mink who made his debut during the Zou arc of One Piece as one of Nekomamushi's Whale Forest Guardians. His dream was to ensure that the world sees the Dawn that he believed Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates would bring about.

With Pedro having died at Whole Cake Island, Carrot has inherited his will and has taken it upon herself to see that Luffy brings the immense change that the world is waiting for.

6 Yamato: Draws Parallels To Roger Pirates

One Piece - Roger and Oden

Yamato claims to be Kozuki Oden and it is heavily implied that he's inherited the will of Oden as well. With that in mind, it's quite easy to see why he will eventually travel with the Straw Hat Pirates.

Oden traveled with Roger all the way to Laugh Tale and discovered the true history of the world. Yamato, being a self-proclaimed Kozuki Oden, would certainly feel like doing the same with Luffy and the Straw Hats.

5 Carrot: Wants To See The World

A very happy Carrot in One Piece

Prior to leaving Zou with Luffy, Carrot had no idea about what the world outside was like. Thanks to the Straw Hat crew, she got a grasp over the beauty and the vastness of the Grand Line. There's still a lot that Carrot has to see and for that purpose, it would make sense for her to continue her travels with the crew.

In doing so, she would also be able to do something that Nekomamushi and Inuarashi failed to do, and that would be to sail to Laugh Tale with the Pirate King's crew.

4 Yamato: Wants To Become Just Like Oden

Yamato was present during the execution of Kozuki Oden and witnessed the entire Hour of the Legends. As pointed out by him, he's heavily inspired by Oden and wants to be just like him. One of the most defining qualities of Oden was his passion to explore the entire world.

Yamato, being a big fan of him, would want to follow in his footsteps and do the same. Inevitably, once the war of Wano Country is wrapped up, Yamato will set off on an adventure like never before.

3 Carrot: Serves As A Lookout

Carrot was one of the most crucial members of the Sanji rescue squad and she played a great role in defending the Sunny from Big Mom's fleet, thanks to her great skills at the lookout. With her being Mink, Carrot can jump to great heights and keep an eye on any incoming danger.

While this isn't a position in the crew that needs immediate attention, it would certainly make everyone more secure if someone like Carrot is there to watch out for danger.

2 Yamato: Has Nowhere To Belong To After The War

Yamato Straw Hat Pirates

After the War of Wano Country is done and dusted, Yamato wouldn't have any purpose left in Wano. Momonosuke would most likely become Shogun, with Hiyori helping him from the side. Those alive would likely help the two rule.

Despite being Oden, Yamato would likely not have a place to belong to nor a role to fulfill. For him, the best option would be to join Luffy as a member of the Straw Hat Pirate crew.

1 Carrot: Offers Great Diversity On The Crew

Electric and fire power being explained by Carrot

Luffy is known to be someone who attracts people towards him. As seen throughout the series, he never discriminates based on race and that quality of his makes him similar to a mysterious person named Joy Boy.

With Jinbe on the crew already, it would offer great diversity to the lot if Carrot, a Mink, would also join them. In doing so, Luffy's status as Joy Boy reincarnate would solidify further.
