The Straw Hat Pirates originated from the East Blue and, before setting sail for the Grandline, they became the most notorious pirate crew in the East Blue by beating the likes of Don Kreig and the Arlong Pirates. This resulted in the World Government placing high bounties on the heads of Monkey D Luffy and Roronoa Zoro.

It's been two years since then and the Straw Hats are now at the center of the 'storm' that has engulfed the entire One Piece world. Currently, the Straw Hat Pirates are in Wano Country where they are attempting to defeat the Yonko, Kaido.

10 AT FULL CAPACITY?

At the beginning of his pirating journey, Monkey D Luffy indicated that he wanted to have around 10 crewmates. Of course, much time has passed and Luffy might have changed his mind about the number. But, so far, he's shown no indication of this, meaning he could keep the number at 10. If that is the case, the main Straw Hat crew might not be getting any new members for the remainder of the series' run. Over the last years, many pirates have been rumored to be on the way to joining the Straw Hats, but the last member the crew added was Jimbei, all the way back in Fish-Man Island.

9 GRANDFLEET

The Straw Hat Grand Fleet consists of all of the Straw Hats' main allies that swore their loyalty to Luffy after the Ddressrosa Arc. The Grand fleet consists of seven pirate crews: The Beautiful Pirates, Barto Club, Happo Navy, Ideo Pirates, Tontatta Pirates, The New Giant Warrior Pirates, and the Yonta Maria fleet. These crews consist of notorious pirates who've made a name for themselves in the New World. This grand fleet consists of over five thousand members making it one of the strongest fighting forces seen in the series.

8 ALLIANCES

The Straw Hat Pirates are currently allied with the Heart Pirates, the Minks from the country Zou, and the Kozuki clan, as well as with several Ninjas from Wano country. All of the Straw Hats alliances are formed for mutual benefit on the basis of friendship, as that is what an alliance means to Luffy. The Straw Hat alliances that have been formed throughout the series usually go really well and the last time Luffy allied himself with Law he was able to take down Doflamingo. The current alliance's mission is to dethrone Kaido and Orochi and hand back the country of Wano to Momonusuke and the Kozuki Clan.

7 BOUNTY

As one of the notorious pirating crews, it is no surprise that the Straw Hats have an astonishing overall bounty of at least 3 billion berries. This is in huge part due to the chaos that tends to occur whenever the Straw Hat's go about their adventures.

The most wanted members of the crew are Luffy, Jimbei, Sanji and Zoro due to their significant fighting skill and the threat they could pose to the World Government one day.

6 THREAT TO THE GOVERNMENT'

Back in Enies Lobby, the Straw Hat Pirates declared war on the World Government after they tried to take away Robin. In a now-legendary moment, Luffy asked Usopp to shoot down the government's flag and Usopp did so with aplomb. Since then, the Straw Hats have been a constant thorn in the side of the government. Luffy broke into and escaped the prison Impel Down which served as another way to spit in the World Government's face before starring at the Marineford war. At this war, it was noted by Whitebeard that one day a man will show up and bring the World Government to its knees; that man is Luffy, and the crew is the Straw Hat Pirates.

5 BRINGERS OF THE DAWN

Since the time skip, the motif of the dawn has played a large role in the story of One Piece. The dawn is seen as a time when the world will go through great changes and be reborn a new and better place. Many characters throughout the series have waited patiently on this dawning of the world such as Pedro and Nekmamushi. Before he died Pedro strongly believed that the Straw Hat would be the ones to bring about this new age and naturally he wasn't wrong.

4 LOYALTY

The Grandline is a notoriously hard sea to navigate, meaning just being a pirate in the New World is a daily struggle. Only the strongest of crews can brave these seas with a smile on their faces. The Straw Hats are one of the few crews with the ability to do this, they are a tight-knit unit who work in tandem with each other. They all trust each other and would lay down their lives for there friends at the drop of a hat. The Straw Hats have managed to stay loyal to their Captain and crew throughout their journey and this loyalty will continue to play a role in their future success.

3 NATURAL ADVENTURERS

The Straw Hat crew are natural adventurers and wanderers, no matter where they go they manage to have an amazing time, largely due to Luffy knack for sniffing out a worthwhile adventure. Back in Mock Town, the Strawhats were laughed at when they proclaimed that they would go to a Sky Island, because nobody believed it exists.

But the Strawhats never wavered and eventually, they went on a great adventure in the sky and defeated God while their naysayers sat at home doing nothing.

2 NOT YOUR TYPICAL PIRATES

The Straw Hats are a peculiar group of pirates even by One Piece's standard. Their captain is a genius-level fighter whose body is made of rubber, their doctor is a talking Reindeer-Human and the ship's musician is a reanimated skull that died many decades ago. The Straw Hats are liked everywhere they go and tend to act as agents of freedom as they move throughout. Oftentimes when the Straw Hats arrive at an Island they are met with animosity but whenever they leave andIsland it's always to cheers and celebrations, pretty uncommon for most pirates in One piece.

1 UNITED IN TRAGEDY

All the members of the Straw Hat pirates have suffered crippling losses that have fundamentally change them at their core. After losing her entire country at the hands of the World government, a young Nico Robin learned the true weight of history. After losing all his crew in the Florian triangle Brook had to then learn to find solace in his solitude and he often turned to jokes to blunt his pain. All the Straw Hats have experienced such a loss and it is the memory of those times that help them to fight for their friends in the present, so as to ensure those losses are never repeated.
