Weekly Shonen Jump is preparing a celebration like no other as its flagship series One Piece is about to hit its 1,000th chapter. To commemorate the occasion, Shonen Jump is reportedly publishing a special crossover chapter of One Piece that will feature all the main characters in the magazine's current lineup. This will obviously include characters like Senku from Dr. Stone, Deku from My Hero Academia and Asta from Black Clover. Needless to say, it'll be a huge feather in the cap of one of the biggest-selling comics of all time.

As some fans are already excitedly pointing out, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame are nothing compared to the potential scope of this crossover. Others, meanwhile, are thrilled that some of the magazine's new up-and-comers will get a unique opportunity to co-star alongside the iconic Straw Hats. Not only is this a big deal for One Piece -- it's an incredible signal-boost for these lesser-known series, too.

This isn't One Piece's first crossover, but it is bound to be larger than almost any other in the series' history. In 2006, One Piece had a crossover manga with Dragon Ball Z titled Cross Epoch. This was a collaboration between Eiichiro Oda and Akira Toriyama and featured the characters from both of their legendary series trying to make it to a party hosted by Shenron, the wish-granting dragon.

One Piece's second crossover came in 2011 with One Piece x Toriko: The True Food! Devil Fruit!! featuring the characters from Toriko alongside the Straw Hats. This was another collab between mangaka, with Toriko creator Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro working together with Oda. An anime special in 2013, Dream 9 Toriko x One Piece x Dragon Ball Z Super Collaboration Special, did a crossover between the three titular series.

A few other Shonen Jump mangaka have also worked on official One Piece spinoffs. In 2018, the writer/artist duo behind Food Wars!, YÅ«to Tsukuda and Shun Saeki, made a spinoff one-shot featuring the cook of the Straw Hats, Sanji, titled Shokugeki no Sanji. The one-shot takes place right before the Baratie arc, about the aquatic restaurant's sous chef, Sanji, who must deal with a frustrating food critic who won't even finish her plate. The one-shot is accurate to Sanji's character and beliefs as a cook while also playing to the strengths of the duo in how they present and express food and their love of cooking.

In September 2020, Boichi, the artist for Dr. Stone, made a spinoff starring Portgaz D. Ace, with storyboards done by Ryo Ishiyama. The spinoff, One Piece: Episode A, adapts the first chapter of the Ace-centered light novel One Piece: Ace's Story. Boichi's depiction of Ace shows a side of him hardly seen in One Piece, a free spirit like Luffy, and the bond he quickly forms with the Masked Deuce is something you want to see explored more. A year earlier, Boichi also did a remake chapter of the Zoro vs. Mihawk fight from the Baratie Arc which oozes in style from the ferocious way he draws both swordsmen. One Piece characters have also made appearances in many Shonen Jump video game tie-ins, bringing together some of the publication's most beloved characters for some classic shonen, fighting action.

With as many spinoffs and collaborations done with One Piece, it's actually no surprise this monumental Infinity War-style crossover is happening. Eiichiro Oda has been a huge influence on modern manga, and for a man who works exceedingly hard every day to tell the story he's been telling for over 23 years, there's no better time than now to toast to his accomplishments.
