Furthermore, Garchomp are competitive and love to seek fights with Pokémon for food in the wild. Considering how Luffy loves food and is the one to enjoy eating the most in the crew, having a Pokémon with a similar appetite can lead to problems for him.

Although it may not be one of the best anime characters with fire powers, Infernape is no pushover in combat and will defend its trainer using its incredible martial arts skills. With the ability to coat itself in fire and having attacks like Close Combat, it'd be hard for Luffy to deny Infernape.
Moreover, Luffy could see his brother Portgas D. Ace in Infernape and himself considering the Pokémon is a fighting monkey. Not only will Infernape be a great homage to his brother, but it will also be a great ally to fight alongside Luffy.

Though Brook may rank among the fastest Straw Hat Pirates in Luffy's crew, he's not an evil person that would harm kind-hearted people, unlike the ghost Pokémon Dusclops. The creature loves to hypnotize people and consume them into its body.
Not only that, but Dusclops makes sure that these people are never seen again, according to their Pokédex entry. Luffy's not a fan of those who'd harm his friends, as evident during his fight with Bartholomew Kuma during the earlier arcs of One Piece. Reliving that experience is something Luffy wouldn't want to go through, especially if it's permanent.

Despite its peaceful-looking inanimate object design, Chandelure tends to burn its victims internally.
Moreover, Chandelure likes to devour the spirit energy of anyone that's near it, showing that it has no regard for anyone even if they're heartwarming individuals. Having a creature that doesn't like company and will devour one's soul without hesitation goes against everything Luffy stands for.
