Nami is the navigator for the Straw Hat crew in the One Piece universe and its oldest members. She is regarded as the group's weakest fighter, with even Usopp possessing greater combat affinity based on his sniping abilities, unusually high durability, and diverse arsenal.

However, there have been many instances where her actions were solely responsible for saving the lives (or preserving the futures) of those she cares about. By identifying the greatest examples of her heroism, we can better appreciate how she contributes despite her palpable absence of battle prowess.

10 She Negotiated A Proper Price For Skypiea's Treasure

One Piece Nami negotiates with treasure

When the Straw Hats arrived to Water Seven, they needed to ditch their riches from Skypiea and acquire the funds necessary to purchase a new ship. To solve both problems, they went to the bank and attempted to sell their gold.

Initially, they were offered a hundred million berries by a "professional" appraiser. However, Nami would demand triple that price, providing them with abundant funds for whatever naval craft they needed. While Franky would steal most of their wealth, he used it to buy the materials that would comprise the Thousand Sunny.

9 She Saved Franky From Oars

During the Straw Hats' battle against Oars, Franky was the first to be defeated. With his body broken and sprawled across the ground, Gecko Moria ordered his minion to crush him.

Since the other crewmates were still recovering from their own injuries, it seemed as if the cyborg was doomed. Providentially, Nami zapped the giant with a storm cloud, disorienting his attack and allowing Franky to be rescued before it was too late. It was an excellent demonstration of the navigator's utility in battle.

8 She Saved Sanji & Usopp From Hotori & Kotori

After Eneru defeated Sanji and Usopp effortlessly, they were forced to recover inside the Going Merry and unable to fight. Realizing their opportunity, Hotori and Kotori—two brothers—boarded the ship and expressed their intent to claim vengeance for their sibling.

Courageously, Nami defeated both invaders through a cunning usage of impact dials. While she injured her arm as a consequence, her actions ensured her allies would be saved from the God's henchmen and have an opportunity to continue their quest to rescue Skypiea from abject destruction.

7 She Helped Luffy Reach Eneru's Ship

It became tough for Luffy to defeat Eneru because his arc was safely nestled among the clouds. To bring him down, the Straw Hats felled Giant Jack and provided Nami a temporary ramp to ride her Waver.

She escorted Luffy up the colossal beanstalk despite the thunder Eneru threw and provided him an opportunity to board the villain's ship a second time. Were it not for her valiance and selflessness, Skypiea would have been destroyed in a massive ball of rolling thunder, and she would never have been able to claim its treasures.

6 Nami Took Down Doublefinger By Herself

Doublefinger baroque works agent

Doublefinger was a Baroque Works agent who could manipulate her body into pointed barbs. Since the Straw Hats had to divide themselves to provide a worthy distraction for Vivi, Nami was forced to confront her alone.

Although Nami seldom had an opportunity to use Usopp's weapon, she could gauge its functions and defeat her adversary in the same fight. Though the navigator would sustain moderate wounds to her legs for the encounter, she was in a much better position than many of her allies (especially Zoro and Usopp).

5 Nami Saved Her Village By Subjecting Herself To Arlong's Will

Arlong and his Fish Men cohorts were responsible for intimidating Nami's hometown into submission. They demanded offerings for their mercy, and failure to pay them would be punished promptly and brutally.

Nami willingly volunteered her services to his crew so that her people would be spared. She worked both as a navigator throughout her childhood and as a treasure collector to add to the villain's gradually expanding personal treasury. Luffy's victory over the evildoer would win Nami's admiration and allegiance.

4 Nami Saved Sanji From Kalifa

Kalifa was a CP9 agent who was matched against Sanji during the attack on Enies Lobby. Though the cook was more than capable of defeating her, his chivalry prevented him from doing so. As a result, he was knocked unconscious and launched from a high balcony.

Admiring his manners regardless of their consequences, Nami confronted Kalifa herself. Despite the woman's Six Paths training and the devil fruit at her command, the navigator capitalized on Chopper's distraction and achieved victory in their fight.

3 Nami Forced Foxy To Reveal His Power In The Davy Back Fight

The Davy Back Fight was a challenge initiated by Foxy to poach the Straw Hat pirates' crew. In the first competition, the heroes raced against their duplicitous counterparts through a treacherous aquatic obstacle course rigged for them to lose.

Nami managed to navigate a series of coral reefs and whirlpools without her boat sustaining damage. Though Foxy would prevent her from winning the competition by using his Slow Slow beam, the Straw Hats would use their newfound knowledge of his power against him in future challenges.

2 Nami Shared The Truth About Robin With The Crew Before The Visit To Enies Lobby

Before the visit to Enies Lobby, the Straw Hats were divided about Robin's actions. After Iceberg's narrow escape from CP9's assassination attempt, he immediately clarified his exchange with the archaeologist before she fled the hospital to Nami.

By telling the group that Robin only distanced herself since she wanted to protect them, the heroes became united in purpose and unilaterally determined to bring their friend home. When they cried out to her atop the crenellations of the fortress, she shouted back that she wanted to live and come with them.

1 Nami Saved Luffy From Buggy's Cannon

Buggy The Clown during the Orange Town arc in One Piece

Though Nami and Luffy had devised a plan to fake his capture, Buggy demanded an immediate test of loyalty from the navigator, insisting she light the cannon that would take her friend's life. It was significantly more deadly than standard artillery, as demonstrated by the villain himself.

Despite being surrounded by cutthroat criminals, Nami extinguished the cannon's fuse with her bare hands. Fortunately, Buggy's men would not have time to retaliate. Zoro quickly intervened and dispatched the henchmen at the clown's disposal.
