On One Piece, the Wano Country arc is the biggest part of the story so far after the Paramount War before the time-skip. Foundation for this arc was laid down properly by Eiichiro Oda from Punk Hazard and everything that Luffy and the Straw Hats have done since then has led them to this mammoth of a story.
It goes without saying that Wano has been filled with some incredible moments and will only get better from here onwards. So far, fans have seen some mind-blowing reveals in the arc, and here are the 10 most shocking of the lot.
10 SMILE
The smile fruits were hinted at during the Punk Hazard arc where the chemical used to make them was produced by Caesar Clown. During Dressrosa, they were called artificial fruits that grant the power of animals to the eater.
It was only in Wano Country arc that the truth about the SMILEs was revealed to the fans. Only 10% of the eaters gain the power of SMILE fruits and 90% are classified as failures who lose their ability to express any emotion other than laughing. Furthermore, their ability to swim is also taken away from them.
9 SWORD
Towards the end of the Second Act of One Piece's Wano Country arc, X Drake was revealed to be a Captain of the secret Navy unit known as SWORD. He was revealed to have infiltrated Kaido's crew just so he could keep tabs on him and report everything to the higher-ups.
Koby, another Navy member, was also revealed to be a SWORD member. Right now, X Drake is one of the biggest players in the Wano Country arc.
8 Dissolution Of The Shichibukai System
The Shichibukai system has existed in the One Piece world for quite a while. After witnessing what happened at Dressrosa, Fujitora took it upon himself to bring it up at the Reverie.
After the Second Act of Wano, it was revealed that the Shichibukai system was finally abolished. The former Warlords were immediately chased by the Navy. Meanwhile, the SSG, created by Vegapunk, was chosen to replace the Shichibukai.
7 The Bounties
Following the events of the dissolution of the Shichibukai system, a high-level meeting at the Marine HQ took place where the bounties of all the Yonko were revealed to the fans.
Blackbeard was shown to have the lowest bounty of the lot at 2.247 billion Berries, followed by Shanks at 4.0489 billion, then Big Mom at 4.388 billion, and finally, Kaido at 4.6111 billion Berries. Along with the Yonko, the former bounties of Whitebeard (5.046 billion Berries), and Roger (5.5648 billion Berries) were also revealed.
6 Oden's Journey
Wano's Third Act began with the Akazaya Nine waiting at the Promised Port to finally complete the 20-year promise and attack Kaido and Orochi. There, the fans got a proper flashback of Kozuki Oden's journey.
His time with both the Whitebeard Pirates and the Roger Pirates was properly shown to everyone and to top it off, Roger's journey to the final island was also shown. Bits about Joy Boy and his successor were and, without a doubt, this was one of the greatest reveals in the story.
5 Laugh Tale
Roger's treasure was introduced in the story right at the very beginning and as Luffy's journey continued, it was revealed that the One Piece was on an island called Raftel.
Surprisingly, during Oden's flashback, it was revealed that the treasure actually belonged to none other than Joy Boy, and he had left all of it at the Final Island around 800 years ago. According to Roger, it was quite a funny story. Consequently, he decided to name the island, 'Laugh Tale.'
4 Kaido Vs Oden
Kaido was introduced in the story as someone known to be unbeatable in a one-on-one fight. During Oden's flashback, this proved to be questionable as, during their fight, Oden managed to deal great damage to him.
In fact, Oden was about to kill Kaido, and had it not been for the distraction by Kurozumi Higurashi, Wano Country would've been liberated long ago. Once again, Kaido's reputation as being unbeatable in one-on-one combat being untrue was a massive reveal.
3 Kaido's Son
Yonko Kaido was shockingly revealed to have a son during the Third Act of Wano and it turned out to be a man called Yamato. Revealed to be a friend of Portgas D. Ace, Yamato met Luffy and ended up joining his cause.
As a result of the abuse that Kaido put him through from a young age, Yamato decided to rebel against him and kill his own father. Furthermore, Yamato expressed his desire to join the Straw Hat Pirates and sail the seas just like Oden.
2 The New Onigashima Project
Planned together by Kaido and Big Mom, the New Onigashima Project announced the collaboration of the Big Mom Pirates and the Beasts Pirates. Together, the two plan on finding the Ancient Weapons and declare war on the entire world.
More importantly, Onigashima was revealed to be about to get transferred to the Flower Capital and Wano was said to be the new base of all the pirates since it was cut off from the rest of the world.
1 Orochi's Death
Once Kaido's plan to take over Wano was revealed, Orochi showed his dissatisfaction with the fact that Kaido was stepping into his territory and in doing so, was breaching their agreement. To this, Kaido responded by lopping his head off with King's sword.
In an anticlimactic fashion, Orochi was finally killed off and Kaido was revealed to be the final antagonist of the Wano Country arc. Whether Orochi will somehow survive or not isn't know just yet.
