One Piece is notorious for having some out-there villains for the Strawhat Pirates to go up against. Circus-themed pirates, fish-men, zombies, and even ramen cooks, there's just no shortage of strange and unique villains for Luffy and crew to fight. This includes one of their newest foe/allies, Germa 66.

This Super Sentai inspired military force, controlled by the Germa Kingdom, is one of the most feared out there in the world of One Piece. While they are the armed forces of a "Science Kingdom" and may also look like a bunch of flashy goofs, Germa 66 is powerful and should never be taken lightly.

10 The Warmongers

With their intense military might and their extreme expansion activities, Germa 66 has earned itself the nickname of "The Warmongers". Given their history with violence and the underworld, it's easy to see why they've been called that.

A notable example of this was when they were involved in an incident called the "Conquest of Four Nations" in the North Blue. In it, four different nations came into conflict with Germa 66 and were completely decimated by Vinsmoke Judge and his military. There was even a portrait made of the massacre that hangs in the Germa Kingdom's castle.

9 Their Existence is Actually Doubted

One Piece Germa 66

While Germa 66 is known by the underworld near and far, the public at large doubts the existence of the group and its military might. Despite some flashy costumes and incredible feats, the world simply doesn't believe that they're real.

Some of this is due to a certain section of the World Economy News Paper, while others just simply don't think a militarized force like Germa 66 would ever possibly exist. Regardless, Germa 66 has an intimidating reputation and those who know they exist without a doubt fear them and their strength.

8 The Vinsmoke Family

One Piece, Vinsmoke Family

The Vinsmoke Family is the royal family that rules the Germa Kingdom, and also act as the commanders of Germa 66. The family themselves are powerful mercenaries with abilities that put them on par with some of the sea's most feared pirates.

Each member of the family has their own "Raid Suit" which designates their number and also makes them look like sentai heroes. Despite that eye-catching look, they are no pushovers and hold a lot of power and influence. Their patriarch, Vinsmoke Judge can even influence bounty rates to an extent.

7 They Got Tons of Soldiers

Unsurprisingly, being the Germa Kingdom's military branch, Germa 66 has a whole lot of soldiers under their command. Unlike their commanders, they all wear black and white uniforms with cowls and goggles to cover their faces.

While the Vinsmoke family appears to have been inspired by sentai heroes, their soldiers look more like a sentai villain's disposable minions. Their training is also incredibly grueling and they have a strong sense of loyalty to their kingdom. The soldiers in Germa 66 won't hesitate to sacrifice themselves if it means protecting any member of the Vinsmoke family.

6 Genetically Modified Humans

While the Vinsmoke sibling's Raid Suits enhance their abilities and even give them the power to hover in the air, that's not the only thing making them strong. Each of the siblings is actually a genetically modified human whose limits go beyond that of normal people.

Their genetic enhancements allow the Vinsmoke siblings to hit harder and take bigger hits thanks to a secondary "exoskeleton" that covers their bones. On top of all that these genetic modifications had other side-effects, like a lack of compassion and each sibling's hair becoming different colors.

5 Their Arsenal Is One to Be Feared

If having genetically modified super soldiers wasn't enough, Germa 66 also has a pretty advanced set of technology and weapons at their disposal. Germa 66's scientific unit has made some advanced military technology that is continuously improved on, and it can sometimes be the deciding factor in any conflict Germa 66 is involved in.

Their arsenal is so advanced and so powerful that even warlords of the sea acknowledge Germa 66's military might. It's because of this technological prowess that almost created an alliance between them and the Big Mom Pirates.

4 An Army of Clones

Loyalty among those who faithfully want to serve their kingdom is well and good, but it's not the only way that Germa 66 fills its ranks. In actuality, there's a good portion of the Germa troops that are actually massed produced clones.

Each clone has a specific body type and with it, a special attribute (such as strength, speed, or heavy). While they're not on the level of the Vinsmoke siblings, the Germa 66 clone army is more capable than the run of the mill henchmen and can be formidable opponents.

3 They Got a History of Shakey Alliances

Germa 66 meets with Big Mom, One Piece

As previously stated, there was very nearly an alliance between Germa 66 and Big Mom's crew of pirates. This involved a political agreement where one of Big Mom's children, Pudding, would get married to one of the Vinsmoke family to seal the alliance.

This almost went through without a hitch, but things went sour towards the end and Big Mom's crew ultimately betrays Germa 66. In the wake of this, Germa 66 went on to ally themselves with the Strawhat Pirates and the Fire Tank Pirates, however, time will tell whether this alliance will hold up.

2 They're Also in a Comic Strip

Germa 66's Comic Depiction, One Piece

The World Economy News Paper is partly to blame for why Germa 66's existence is doubted, this is because they're depicted as the villains of the paper's long-running propaganda comic "Sora, Warrior of the Sea". In the comic, Germa 66 is an over-the-top evil organization that often come into conflict with the comic's hero, Sora.

This was done since the Vinsmoke family had earned such an infamous reputation that they were actually considered pure evil. The comic's popularity only added to the idea that Germa 66 was nothing but a fictional group of comic book bad guys.

1 They're Sanji's Family

Sanji using The Raid Suit

It's probably obvious at this point that the Vinsmoke family has something of a resemblance to a certain swirly-eyebrowed cook aboard the Strawhat Pirates' ship. That's because they're actually Sanji's family. Sanji was an outcast in the Vinsmoke family, due to a lack of genetic enhancements that made him pretty much a normal human and as such wasn't treated very well.

Eventually, he left the family behind and renounced them all together, leading to him to meet Zeff, becoming a cook, and eventually joining Luffy's crew. Germa 66 would attempt to get Sanji to marry Pudding to solidify their alliance with Big Mom, but that went south and he had to rescue them. Despite this, Sanji still has a very strained relationship with his family who still see him as the failure of their lineage.
