In the Water 7 arc, the Straw Hats were forced to abandon their beloved ship the Going Merry after it was catastrophically damaged. They needed a new ship that could continue their journey. The end of the Going Merry was one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the series but despite this tragic event, Franky was able to build a ship overnight and carry on the Going Merry's legacy.
With Franky joining the Straw Hats as their shipwright, the crew is in safe hands. He's a reliable friend who is fully capable of repairing and maintaining the ship he constructed. The Thousand Sunny will always represent Franky's greatest work. It's the ship that carried the future King of the Pirates.
9 Franky Proved Himself Against CP9
During the Enies Lobby arc, the Straw Hats challenged the World Government in order to free Robin when she was held captive by the CP9. At this point, Franky was an ally fighting alongside the Straw Hats and had managed to defeat Fukurou in battle. After seeing Luffy's fighting spirit and determination, Franky offered his assistance in the final showdown between Luffy and Lucci but Luffy asked him to help rescue Robin instead.

7 Franky Destroyed The Smile Factory
The Smile Factory was a facility responsible for creating artificial Devil Fruits discovered during the Dressrosa arc. The factory later played a significant role in Doflamingo's and Kaido's business, which was ruined when Franky destroyed the factory.
While Franky offers mainly support in combat, he is the best at and most reliable at defense. His cyborg body provides massive durability and he's the best at surviving tasks that involve massive destruction. Destroying the Smile Factory was perfectly suited for Franky's unique abilities.

One of the highlights of the Dressrosa arc involved Franky's unwillingness to give up on the idea of fighting on equal terms. Blow after blow, Franky took down one of the respected officers from the Diamante Army, Senor Pink, in a battle of strength and endurance.
While Franky is more of a support fighter when he's compared to the Monster Trio, he demonstrated his durability and ability to come out on top in a one-on-one showdown against a formidable opponent.
5 Franky Encouraged Luffy To Get The Flame Flame Fruit
Luffy never imagined he would encounter Ace's Flame-Flame devil fruit when he set foot inside Dressrosa. In an attempt to lure Luffy into the colosseum, Doflamingo offered Ace's fruit to the winner of the Corrida Colosseum tournament. But Luffy already possessed the Gum-Gum fruit's power, and could never eat it. Still, the idea of a random stranger acquiring his brother's power was heartbreaking.
So, Luffy asked Franky to take the fruit and become a devil fruit user. As important as Ace was to Luffy, this was undeniably the moment that signified his unwavering trust in Franky. After declining Luffy's offer, Franky encouraged him to not miss the opportunity and seize the fruit himself.
4 Franky Saved Chopper In Enies Lobby
The Enies Lobby arc introduces a number of power-ups, from Luffy's Gear Second to Chopper's Monster Point, helping the Straw Hats keep up with the elite members of Cipher Pol 9. In a heated battle against Kumadori, Chopper was forced to use his Monster Point as a last resort.
As the Monster Point began to reach its limit, Chopper became weaker and more vulnerable to attacks. With Franky's assistance, Chopper safely shed his uncontrollable new form and became his original self the surrounding Cipher Pol agents could do any lasting damage.

Learning how to become a shipwright is one thing, but being taught by the best in the world is an opportunity that only two people received. Franky and Iceberg were once Tom's students, the craftsman known for building the Pirate King's ship Oro Jackson, which sailed to the end of the Grand Line.
If Franky learned one valuable lesson from Tom, it was to build a ship that he wholeheartedly believed in and would love no matter what it had done. Franky built the Thousand Sunny in order to conquer the seas. He's is a world-class shipwright who deserves his role in the future Pirate King's crew.
2 Franky Reported To Luffy Before Helping The Tontatta Tribe
Few of One Piece's pirates are willing to help outsiders, especially considering the serious competition to become the next Pirate King. Even so, the Straw Hats have stepped up as the saviors of failing kingdoms like Alabasta and Dressrosa.
For the majority of the Dressrosa arc, Franky was tasked with helping the Tontatta Tribe take down the Smile Factory. Willing to fight for what he believed in even after his captain had forbidden it, Franky showed the kind of judgment Luffy would have if he had been in his shipwright's shoes.
