There are plenty of choices to choose from when you are picking your favorite character. Sabo is one of the fan favorites in the show. He is the sworn brother of Luffy and he will go to any length to protect him from harm. In this post, we will discuss ten things that you didn't know about Sabo.

Sabo As A Kid

If you have watched the post-Marineford arc carefully, then you might have noticed that Sabo's voice was similar to that of a very famous Shonen protagonist. Kid Sabo has been voiced by Junko Takeuchi, who also voices Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto Uzumaki is the main protagonist of Naruto, which has been written by Masashi Kishimoto, who used to be Oda's rival.

However, after Sabo grew up, he got a new voice actor. He is currently voiced by Toru Furuya.

9 Similarities with Sanji

Sabo In Dressrosa

Sabo shares several similarities with Sanji, who is the chef of the Straw Hat Pirates. Sabo and Sanji both have fire abilities. Sabo has the Mera Mera no Mi and Sanji has Diable Jambe.

They were born in families of high society. Sanji was a Prince of Germa and Sabo was a Noble. Both of them were badly treated by their fathers. Sabo and Sanji were both considered failures by them. Another thing that is common between the two is that they ran away from their families in order to seek a better life.

8 Tallest Brother

Sabo, Luffy, and Ace are sworn brothers. They took a vow when they were still kids. When Sabo was "killed," Ace took care of Luffy. Ace set out to become a pirate before Luffy. He made a name for himself and became the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. Sabo didn't make an entrance until Dressrosa.

He is the tallest among the three brothers. Sabo measures 187 cm while Ace and Luffy are 185 cm and 174 cm respectively.

Sabo is the second in command of the Revolutionary Army. He is the chief of staff and one of their best fighters. Besides being a very powerful character, Sabo is also one of the most famous characters in One Piece. In the sixth Japanese fan poll, Sabo managed to finish at the 9th spot.

This makes him the most popular character from the Revolutionary Army. After the release of One Piece: Stampede, Sabo's popularity is only going to increase further. The film is yet to be released digitally.

6 First Hint

Sabo at Ace and Whitebeard's Grave

Sabo didn't exist in One Piece for a long time. He was only revealed as a character after the death of Ace. The whole arc about the childhood of the three brothers was very emotional. His appearance was hinted a long time ago.

In a flashback in chapter 558, there was a flashback about the childhood of the boys' brotherhood initiation ceremony. There was a third cup of sake present during the flashback.

5 Sabo's Fate

Sabo was presumed to be dead after the World Noble launched an attack on his ship. Most of the fans believed that Sabo died in the attack. However, he joined the Revolutionary Army after being saved by Monkey D. Dragon, Luffy's father. Sabo joining the Revolutionary Army was insinuated a while back.

The first time was when Dragon and Ivankov were talking during episode 504, and the second time was on the cover of Chapter 668. On the cover, there was a newspaper and three cups of sake, which were placed on the grave of Ace. It was later revealed that Sabo was the one who placed those things over there.

4 Ace & Sabo

Ace and Sabo have always been protective of their little brother, Luffy. Both have had similar roles so far in the story. Both of them were introduced when Luffy was going up against a Shichibukai, who was deceiving an entire country. In Ace's case, it was Crocodile ruining Alabasta and for Sabo, it was Doflamingo messing with the people of Dressrosa.

Both of them protected Luffy from other antagonists. Ace protected Luffy from Smoker and Sabo protected him from Fujitora and Burgess. One more thing that is common between them is that they both left vivre cards with his crew.

3 Shared Birthday

Sabo shares his birthday with someone who has a lot of power and he is one of the old legends in One Piece. The character with whom Sabo shares his birthday is "Golden Lion" Shiki.

Shiki is an infamous pirate and one of the rivals of Gol D. Roger. Shiki is an incredibly powerful character and in his prime, he was easily able to destroy half of Marineford with ease. Both the characters are born on March 20. So, Sabo is really in good company when it comes to his birthday.

2 Haki

Haki is one of the few ways to gain an advantage over an opponent with a superior devil fruit power. Oda properly introduced the concept of Haki after the battle of Marineford. Since then a lot of stress has been laid on the importance of Haki. Sabo is the only Revolutionary Army member who has been shown using Haki. He is an expert when it comes to using Haki.

He demonstrated his proficiency at Dressrosa when he fought Burgess, Fujitora, and Bastille. With the newly acquired Mera Mera no Mi, Sabo's power is on another level now.

1 Similarity in Appearance

It is not unknown that Oda has drawn inspiration for his characters from other fictional characters and real-life people. Sabo's appearance is similar to that of Arthur Dodger, who is a character from Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist. Arthur too was a part of a gang of child thieves. He dressed up with a top hat and wore an adult's coat with the sleeves rolled up.
