The world of One Piece is filled with some of the greatest characters, including some who have been immortalized as legends and others who are still in the process of making a great name for themselves. These characters have lived quite an amazing life, however, not all of them have had their pasts revealed to the fans.

While these characters are already great, a flashback makes them much more rich and enjoyable to the fans, which is why everyone is waiting for their pasts to finally be revealed by Eiichiro Oda.

10 Kaido

Kaido One Piece

Kaido is one of the Four Emperors of the Sea and among the strongest known characters in the One Piece world. Being a Yonko, he possesses a level of strength that even the World Government fears to quite an extent.

While Kaido's reputation as the strongest creature in the world is rather well-known by now, his backstory still remains to be seen. In the past, he was a member of the Rocks Pirates, however, how he joined them and what he did after the split isn't known.

9 Marshall D. Teach

Marshall D. Teach One Piece

Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is another One Piece character who has mostly been shrouded in mystery. He was an orphan who was picked up by Whitebeard as a member of his crew and after spending quite a long time there, he chose to kill Thatch, steal the Yami Yami no Mi, and defect.

Fans know quite a bit about him, however, his real past remains to be seen so far. His motivations, along with everything that pushed him to become a pirate are still a mystery.

8 Shanks

A pirate from the West Blue, Shanks was once an apprentice on the ship of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, along with Buggy. After Roger's execution, Shanks set out to see on his own and created the Red Hair Pirates.

Currently, he's one of the Four Emperors of the Sea, however, most things about his life have not been revealed to the fans. How he met Roger, his connection to Teach, and his duels with Mihawk are all things that fans would love to see in a proper Shanks flashback.

7 Mihawk

Mihawk, warlord of the sea One Piece

The current World's Greatest Swordsman, Dracule Mihawk is an incredibly powerful character who once served as a Shichibukai as well. He's someone who is known to hold legendary status in the world and is portrayed to be the peak that Zoro wants to scale.

However, little to nothing is known about his past. In the future, it is highly likely that the story will dive deeper into his character and show the fans what motivated him to become a swordsman, what his connection to the likes of Shanks is, and how he became as great as he is today.

6 Monkey D. Dragon

Known to be the World's Worst Criminal, Dragon is the leader of the Revolutionary Army and he is in direct opposition of the World Government and the Celestial Dragons. He aims to overthrow the Tenryuubito system and protect the world from the corrupt nobles.

Dragon hails from Goa Kingdom, but that's almost all fans know about his story. How he created the Revolutionary Army and what drove him to oppose Government isn't known just yet. However, it goes without saying that Oda will deliver a proper backstory of Monkey D. Dragon in the future.

5 Monkey D. Garp

Luffy's grandfather, Monkey D. Garp is among the most beloved characters in the entire series. Despite being a carefree character, much like Luffy, Garp is a Navy man instead of a pirate who searches for freedom.

Garp's character is quite conflicted as well and it isn't known why. He loves his family, yet duty means a lot to him. At the same time, he loves his freedom, which is why he rejected several promotions in the past. A proper Garp flashback would answer all these questions about him.

4 Rocks D. Xebec

Rocks D. Xebec in One Piece.

Rocks D. Xebec is a legendary figure in the One Piece world that fans don't know much about yet. He was known to be quite a menace as he aimed to become the King of the World. His strength was such that he ruled all the seas alone, something that is currently divided among the Four Emperors.

Rocks' story was briefly mentioned by Sengoku in One Piece Chapter 967, but fans certainly want to get a proper look into his character, which they'll likely get through Kaido's flashback.

3 Yamato

Yamato is the son of Kaido and the self-proclaimed Kozuki Oden. He was recently introduced in the story as a former friend of Portgas D. Ace. Right now, he's fighting for the Kozuki alongside Luffy and the alliance.

As the Wano Country arc progresses further, Yamato will likely be fleshed out more as he looks set to join the crew, and thus, he will inevitably be given a backstory, like all the Straw Hats.

2 Nami

Nami one piece

Also known as the Cat Burglar, Nami is the Navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates and easily among the most important characters in the entire story.

Although most of her past was revealed to the fans during the Arlong Park arc, it is still not known where she actually comes from. Nami was found by Nojiko, who was then found by Bellemere. It goes without saying that Bellemere is her family and her mother, however, her true origins are intriguing nonetheless.

1 Roronoa Zoro

Zoro before and after-One Piece

Zoro is the Combatant of the Straw Hat Pirates and the first person Luffy recruited on his journey to become the Pirate King. Surprisingly, just a small bit of Zoro's past has been revealed to the fans so far.

He belongs to East Blue's Shimotsuki Village, which was set up by Shimotsuki Kozaburo, Koushiro's father after he escaped Wano some 55 years ago. It is highly likely that Zoro has ties to the Shimotsuki clan and Kozaburo himself, however, what exactly the connection is, isn't known yet.
