The following contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1050, "Honor," by Eiichiro Oda, Stephen Paul and Vanessa Satone, available in English from Viz Media.

Chapter 1049 descended into chaos as Luffy and Kaido clashed in the sky above Onigashima. In a flashback, Kaido's rise to power was explored, from his childhood to joining the Rocks Pirates to declaring war on the Nobles. Meanwhile, Momonosuke put everything he had into creating Flame Clouds, finally succeeding. Raizo's Water of Zou managed to put the majority of if not all the flames out, washing everyone caught up in the torrent out onto the Performance Floor.

Just as Momo moved the island, Luffy used the last of his strength and the hope his friends could live in a world where they "can eat as much food as they want" to break through Kaido's attack and land a devastating blow, sending the dragon careening into the ground below. Kaido continues to plummet as Chapter 1050 opens up. He creates a new hole next to the one Big Mom created, and a series of cracks form under the earth and reach two pools of water as he falls into a magma pit. Meanwhile, Yamato rushes to catch Luffy as he too falls from the sky. A text box declares that the winner of the Battle on the Roof of the Skull Dome was formerly Kaido. In the Flower Capital, Tenguyama watches as the Sky Boats continue to float up into the sky. Toko excitedly cheers next to him. He thinks about when Toko was writing her wish on her lantern, saying that someone had said her father knew someone would kill him because he used to be someone important. He allowed himself to be caught, but Toko wonders why he would do such a thing. Tenguyama tells her that Yasuie gave his life so that Wano could have a fighting chance and so Toko could have a happy future. Moved by what Tenguyama has told her, she changes her message on her Sky Boat. Instead of saying “I want to see Daddy” it now says “Daddy, thank you." From the roof of the Skull Dome, Cat Viper watches the Sky Boats light up the sky for a moment, feeling nostalgic.

Then, he announces Luffy’s victory to Yougara and the others down below. He also explains that Momonosuke prevented Onigashima from crashing using his dragon form. Everyone is shocked when they realize the pink dragon was Momonosuke, with some saying they had no idea he had powers. Finally, he declares that after 20 years of suffering, the war is over and Wano is free. Everyone begins cheering and celebrating the victory.

Amid the celebrating, Usopp and Franky come rushing to Chopper with Kikunojo, Kin’emon and Zoro. Chopper becomes overwhelmed by the number of casualties, but Dr. Miyagi rushes to his side to help ease some stress. Outside, Momonosuke and Zunesha begin telepathically talking to each other. Momonosuke reaches out to Zunesha, saying that he has decided not to open the borders just yet. Zunesha trusts his decision and will follow his lead. As Momo sits up, he feels a strange rumbling. Just when everyone thinks the fighting is over, the Animal Kingdom Pirates begin firing canons, saying that they still outnumber the Alliance. They don’t believe that Kaido lost because he is an Emperor of the Sea. This angers Franky, who’s ready to go again, but Brook tries to hold him back. Yamato steps up, pointing out that they had "already died once in this fight." He continues chastising the group, calling Momonosuke “our general” and threatening to destroy the crew himself. Just then, everyone else begins feeling the rumbling as well. In an underground magma pool, Kaido and Big Mom’s bodies can be seen floating amidst the molten magma.

The shaking reaches the Udon Excavation Labor Camp, where Babanuki is informed that something is happening on the seafloor. Just as the text box declares Luffy as the official victor, a large eruption breaks through the sea’s surface near Udon. The explosion catches the attention of the Flower Capital citizens, who wonder if it’s because Kaido is up to something. Momonosuke approaches the city, telling them not to worry, but he’s mistaken for Kaido. He clarifies that he is not Kaido; instead, the eruption was a signal of the end of Kaido. He lands on the ground below and transforms.

From the smoke, Hiyori and the retainers emerge. Everyone is shocked, still thinking she is Komurasaki and that she has returned as a ghost. Denjiro steps forward, with someone calling him by his alias Kyoshiro and asking what happened to his hair. He replies that it’s a long story, and that they have brought the new shogun of Wano. The next chapter of One Piece will be available on Sunday, June 5th.
