The One Piece world has introduced quite a lot of weaponry, and named blades are definitely up there among the best in the entire series. These blades are crafted with great precision, and their powers are much greater than the regular ones.

To make the blades even stronger, they can also be coated in Armament Haki, which increases their power drastically. Interestingly, a blade can also be permanently blackened with Haki, and prime examples of that are the swords Shusui and Yoru. Here are 10 One Piece blades that we think will blacken in the future.

10 Durandal

Durandal is the sword of Cavendish, the Captain of the Beautiful Pirates, and the First Division Commander of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. His skill with the sword is quite remarkable, and the fact that few can match his skill proves that.

Cavendish is also a user of Armament Haki, which means he can coat his sword in Haki to make it stronger. If done enough, it is possible for Durandal to be turned into a permanent black blade, which is something we're really excited to see. Cavendish may be strong, but with this power, he'll become even better.

9 Soto Musou

Soto Musou is a sword of unknown rank, wielded by none other than Kawamatsu the Kappa, who is a Kozuki retainer. Kawamatsu was taught the ways of the sword by Kozuki Oden, and through years of practice, he's become one of the strongest swordsmen in the country.

Kawamatsu is a great user of Ryou, and he can incorporate it into both his swordplay and his sumo wrestling moves. His blade can blacken, and if imbued with Haki enough, it also has a chance of turning into a permanent black blade.

8 Vista's Swords

'Flower Sword' Vista was the Fifth Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates and one of their strongest. He was powerful enough to clash, and hold his own against Dracule Mihawk, showing how great his skills with a sword are.

Vista wields dual swords, and both of them appear to be special. As expected of a Division Commander, Vista's Armament Haki was very powerful, and it increased the strength of his sword even further. Being one of the greatest swordsmen in the world, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him permanently blacken his blades.

7 Fujitora's Sword

Fujitora is a Navy Admiral who was appointed for the role at some point during the two-year time-skip, via a World Military Draft. He's the first Admiral that we've seen who is also a proper swordsman.

Fujitora's skills with a sword are great enough to overpower Roronoa Zoro and match Sabo. He has been seen turning his blade black by imbuing it with Armament Haki. Being such a strong warrior, Fujitora definitely has a chance to blacken his blade, and we hope to see it happen sometime during the War of Wano Country, provided he makes his way there.

6 Wado Ichimonji

Wado Ichimonji is one of the 21 O Wazamono grade swords that belongs to Pirate Hunter, Roronoa Zoro. This sword was supposed to be passed down to Kuina at one point, but Zoro took it upon himself to wield it and uphold his promise after Kuina passed away.

Wado Ichimonji has been seen getting imbued with Haki, which means that this blade can blacken in the future too. Furthermore, this blade was crafted by Shimotsuki Kouzaburou, and it has certain connections to Roronoa Zoro. By the end of the series, Zoro will definitely blacken this sword permanently.

5 Ame no Habakiri

Also one of the 21 O Wazamono grade swords, Ame no Habakiri was wielded by none other than Kozuki Oden himself, and before his death, he left it as a memento to his son, Kozuki Momonosuke.

This blade is one of the only two weapons to have wounded Kaido, although that was only possible because of Oden's Haki being that great. Nonetheless, Ame no Habakiri is definitely a blade that can blacken, and Momonosuke could finish Oden's job for him.

4 Kikoku

Trafalgar Law after the Dressrosa arc in One Piece.

Kikoku is the sword of one of the members of the Worst Generation, Trafalgar Law. This blade is cursed, although what exactly its curse is isn't known. Law has displayed magnificent skills with this sword to date, and the fact that Doflamingo called his swordplay incomparable says a lot.

By the end of the series, Trafalgar Law will, undoubtedly, be one of the greatest known pirates on the seas. A black blade on his back is a weapon befitting such a man.

3 Enma

Zoro With Enma

Enma, just like Ame no Habakiri, is one of Kozuki Oden's blades. At Wano, Zoro traded Shusui for this sword because the latter had to be returned to Wano Country. Enma is also one of the O Wazamono grade swords, and its special ability is that it drains all the Haki of its user.

Part of the reason why Zoro was able to wield this sword was because of it being crafted by Kouzaburou, just like Wado Ichimonji. According to Tenguyama Hitetsu, Enma didn't get a chance to turn into a black blade, but under Zoro, it'll definitely turn into one.

2 Napoleon

Big Mom wielding her iconic weapon with a scary expression on her face

Napoleon is one of the homies of Big Mom that can turn itself into a broadsword. Its powers are magnificent, and it can even slice entire islands apart. As with every sword, Napoleon can also be imbued with Haki, which means the chances for it to become a black blade are pretty decent.

During the War of Wano Country, we could possibly see Big Mom turning this blade into a permanent Kokuto. This will not only increase her powers but also strengthen Napoleon to great heights.

1 Gryphon

Gryphon is wielded by the Emperor of the Sea, Red-Hair Shanks. Its rank isn't known, however, we believe that this sword is likely going to be one of the Saijo o Wazamono grade swords. Gryphon can be imbued with Haki, just like every other blade, and doing so would blacken it temporarily.

However, at a certain point, blades can permanently blacken and be turned into Kokuto, which means the same can apply to Gryphon too. A black blade is a weapon befitting a Yonko, and we would love to see Shanks wielding one.
