The Straw Hat crew, led by Monkey D. Luffy, consists of some of the most interesting characters in all of anime and manga. The crew is filled with great characters and the author, Eiichiro Oda, has created some really interesting groups among them, the most popular of the lot being the Monster Trio, made up of Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji.
Although not nearly as strong as the Monster Trio, there is another group in One Piece that's arguably just as popular among the fans and is made up of Nami, Usopp, and Chopper, known as the Weak Trio, who can even give the strongest a run for their money.
10 MONSTER TRIO: Pack A Stronger Punch
The Monster Trio is extremely powerful, not only in the crew but also in the entirety of One Piece. With time and training, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji have grown dramatically and become strong enough to contend with the top-tiers of the series.
In Wano, they're growing even stronger and with time, they'll quite possibly be the strongest trio in the series. With that much power, it's no surprise that most fans love this trio as much as they do.
9 WEAK TRIO: Far More Intelligent
The Weak Trio consists of characters that aren't so strong, however, when push comes to shove, they make use of what they have to get through the situation. As Usopp put during the Alabasta arc where he fought Mrs. Merry Christmas, they're not as strong as the Monster Trio so they have to find ways to fight differently.
They end up relying on their wits during a battle, and even when they're not physically stronger than most enemies, they somehow manage to pull off a win.
8 MONSTER TRIO: Participated In Better Fights
The Monster Trio, being the strongest of the crew, often end up fighting the strongest of the enemy group as well. This has resulted in some of the most impressive fights in One Piece to date, such as Luffy vs Lucci, Zoro vs Mr.1, or Sanji's iconic fight against Jabra.
These fights are iconic and they are so much more intense than the fights that the Weak Trio participates in, thus leaving a long-lasting impression in the minds of the fans.
7 WEAK TRIO: Participated In Tactical Fights
Just like everything in the One Piece world, the fights are also very diverse. While Luffy and the other monsters fight with strength and tenacity, there are those who offer a different dimension in fights, and nobody in the story does it as well as the Weak Trio.
Usopp, Nami, and Chopper fight as underdogs all the time but thanks to them being smart, all they need is to figure out the enemies' weakness to turn the tides of the battle and pull off a big victory.
6 MONSTER TRIO: More Diversity In Fighting Style
As mentioned earlier, the Monster Trio are the strongest fighters in the Straw Hat crew, however, that's not all there is to them. While there is no denying that they're strong, they also each have a rich character that often defines how they fight, such as Luffy fighting his opponents based on their own nature.
Zoro, on the other hand, relishes challenges that push him to the next level, while Sanji fights with not just his strength but with his mind as well. Undoubtedly, this trio is incredibly diverse.
5 WEAK TRIO: Relatable To Fans
Although the Weak Trio is, in essence, made up of super-humans as well, they're much more relatable to the watchers. Most people handle adversity the way the Weak Trio does and for that, they form a different kind of connection with them as they fight to overcome something stronger despite not having the physical strength to pull it off.
There is no doubt that the Monster Trio is an inspiring lot, however, for most people, dealing with problems the way the Weak Trio does is far more appealing.
4 MONSTER TRIO: Face Higher Stakes In Fights
In battle, the Monster Trio usually takes on the strongest of the enemy forces, and that's why most of the pressure is on them during the arcs. This can be seen during the Enies Lobby arc where Lucci was twice as strong as Kaku in his base form and was more than capable of killing most members of the crew easily.
Had Luffy failed, the crew would've been slaughtered, however, had any other member of the crew failed in beating their targets, the result wouldn't have been as bad.
3 WEAK TRIO: Fun To Watch
The Weak Trio is much more fun to watch during fights and they offer a moment of comedic relief during the fights. While fans are all for the high-octane action and intensity during fights, sometimes, it's required that Oda tell the fans that everything isn't dark and gloomy.
That's exactly where the Weak Trio comes in. Although their fights are just as hard to deal with, they're often filled with funny bits that make them quite fun to go through and unique in their own way.
2 MONSTER TRIO: Faced Most Badass Opponents
The Monster Trio attracts the best of the villains to fight the crew and that's another great quality that Oda has associated with them. They're more than capable of taking care of who they're fighting most of the time and inevitably, they will always end up fighting the strongest enemies.
Even though the enemies faced by the Weak Trio are also impressive, they'll never be as menacing as those faced by the Monster Trio.
1 WEAK TRIO: Unpredictable In Fights
Something that makes the Weak Trio even more impressive than they seem on the surface is their unpredictability. Since they don't always rely on strength to defeat their opponents, often, fans don't know how they'll overcome the obstacles in their way.
From Nami's clever usage of the Climatact to Usopp's lies to Chopper's scope, this group is filled with things that the Monster Trio won't be seen doing successfully in the story, ever.
