One Piece has a lot of characters with crazy, amazing outfits and looks; it’s part of the series’ charm. So obviously cosplaying these characters is really fun, and there are lots of people out there who take the time to do it. One of the popular characters to cosplay is Sabo, who has a really distinctive look from the rest of the characters, looking less like your standard pirate and more like a nineteenth-century dandy.

He’s also one of the characters who starts as a child at the beginning of the anime and starts to grow up and change his look as he goes. With so many people cosplaying the character and so many options for how to do it, it’s hard to tell who does it best. Here are 10 cosplays that we think are great representations of Sabo cosplay.

10 Playing With Fire

This is a great Sabo cosplay because it focuses on one of the more recognizable elements of his design: the big burn scar on his eye. It is a difficult bit of makeup to pull off, because even though you can get the shape just right, it’s hard to make it actually look like a burn.

This cosplay does a pretty good job, getting the right color and shiny texture of a burn scar. Combined with the photoshop which adds fire to Sabo’s fingertips, this is a great Sabo cosplay.

9 Striking A Pose

This is a great full body shot of Sabo. This cosplayer has paid close attention to each detail of the outfit. She’s got the goggles positioned on top of the top hat, ready to be pulled down over her face at any moment.

She even has a metal pipe on her back, which is Sabo’s favorite weapon. This cosplay Sabo is ready to beat someone over the head with it at any moment. The buttons on the jacket and shirt, along with the big leather belt and tall leather boots make this Sabo cosplay cute as well as functional.

8 Ready To Fight

This is another great example of an active Sabo, ready to head into battle. He also has an easier going cosplay look, with jeans and a velvet jacket, plus tall black boots without a heel.

The cosplay still feels totally authentic and like this is the Sabo we would probably see if One Piece took place in a modern-day world. Plus, he too is carrying a metal pipe and is mid-motion in these photos, ready for action, his jacket flying, a no-nonsense look on his face, clearly ready to take anyone on.

7 Lounging Around

This is another cosplayer who has created a really great burn scar over Sabo’s eye. This one looks even more like a real scar with its dark uneven coloring, but it still retains the recognizable shape of Sabo’s scar in the anime.

This cosplayer also paid close attention to detail on the shape and color of the goggles, giving them a six-sided shape, and with the dark plastic in the center, they look like they could actually be functional as goggles too. He’s also made sure to have a pipe handy, just in case he needs to fight anyone.

6 Feeling Confident

This cosplayer has done a great job of getting Sabo’s hair right. In the series, it’s really blonde and very curly, and he’s chosen a wig that plays up that aspect of it.

On top of that, he’s got a shiny top hat and goggles that work well with the look, along with the iconic metal pipe that so many of the best Soba cosplayers make sure to carry with them. The scar on his face is more subtle than some of the others, which is a great choice, since it’s not super obvious all the time in the anime. Overall, this is a great look that gives us just the ride Sabo vibes.

5 Noble Bearing

This Sabo cosplay is a great look at another side of Sabo. While all of the cosplays we’ve seen have him in the same outfit, this one feels a little different. It focuses less on his identity as a pirate and more on the side of him that grew up with money, in a noble household.

The focus on the royal blue shirt and white pants, the shiny buttons and the white lace cravat that evoke a feeling of royalty really drive home this idea. On top of that, the confident posing of the cosplayer makes him seem like a prince.

4 A Noble Sailor

Similarly to the last entry, this cosplay also focuses more on the noble look of Sabo’s clothing. Aside from the jacket, which has some real pirate flair, Sabo mostly wears clothing that reminds us of his upbringing in a wealthy background.

This cosplay really leans into that as well but the posing of the cosplayer, along with his smirk, also reminds us that he’s probably up to no good, as most pirates are. The naval style buttons on his shirt also remind us that he’s more of a sailor than a nobleman.

3 On Fire

This is another great way of showcasing a cosplay like Sabo: by showing the kinds of skills that the character has. The cosplay itself is so strong. The cosplayer is wearing a wavy blonde wig that seems to be an exact match to Sabo’s own hair.

The choice to wear the goggles around his throat instead of on his top hat is cool, like he was getting ready for battle and threw his hat aside to protect it. But the focal point of the image is the photoshopped fire, giving us a feeling of how powerful and cool Sabo really is.

2 In The Trash

Okay, this one is a little silly. But it’s also a good cosplay, so definitely worth making the list! This cosplayer has gotten down all of the important details of the cosplay. She’s got a great wig, a top hat with giant goggles, plus the important white cravat and tall black boots.

On top of all that, she’s posing in a pretty funny way: with one foot halfway into a trash can, making a statement about just how much she loves One Piece and what trash she is for it. It only adds to it that the trash can has an anchor on it, very fitting for this cosplay.

1 A Youthful Sabo

Our last entry is another great image of someone getting the face and details just right. The scar is super subtle, like it’s started to fade, and looks more like a birthmark; if we didn’t know better, we’d assume that’s just a natural part of this cosplayer’s skin.

The perfectly wavy blonde hair looks so good that we almost can’t tell whether or not it’s a wig. The goggles are especially impressive. They appear to be made of metal and look like they would actually protect Sabo’s eyes in a fiery situation.
