One Piece may be known as a grand pirate adventure, but its world and various systems span much further than just swords and cannons. Bringing a new, fantastical definition to the pirate battle, One Piece is host to variety of different ways that characters can hurt one another.

Whether this is due to ancient powers, unique martial arts training, or the wonders of science, it's hard to see the same fight twice in the series. Working within a genre that's filled with the high concept nonsense of aliens and ninjas, the pirates of this world have to fight even harder to compete. In examination of all the craziness, this list will be ranking some of the best powers and weapons in One Piece.

10 Lasers

Bartholomew Kuma Laser Cropped

Like any good sci-fi series, One Piece has been an avid host to a variety of different lasers and special power beams. Franky has upgraded his air pressure cannons to the infamous Gao Cannon of the Thousand Sunny.

Kaido in his dragon form is able to dish out large beams of destruction. The Marines and Dr. Vegapunk have found a way to utilize Admiral Kizaru's lasers and now use them within their Pacifistas. With as many characters and competing parties using lasers, does this world really need guns anymore?

9 Electro

The strange, new form of martial arts to be revealed in the series, electro is the chief defense of the Mink Tribe. For a race of warriors whose defining characteristic is having a lot of fur, the Minks have found a way to harness their innate state of friction and kinetic energy and manifest them as devastating electrical energy.

Whether they're firing off these charges or using them to coat their own weapons and attacks, the Mink in their base forms are already a frightful force with electro.

8 Rokushiki

Not one to be outdone in the ways of the fist, the Marines have their own special brand of combat that is deep rooted in their traditions and training. That would be Rokushiki, a superhuman fighting style that spans six different fighting styles. This includes having the flexibility of paper, the jumping power to walk on air, the fortitude to be like iron, the speed to essentially teleport, and the power to make every kick and punch destructive blows.

For those who have absolute mastery of all of the above, there is also a hidden, seventh style known as the Six King Gun. This allowed Rob Lucci to create the powerful shockwave blasts that did quite a number on Luffy on Ennies Lobby.

7 Raid Suits

As storied enemies of the World Government, the infamous Germa won't be outdone by simple, superhuman feats. Using the powers of science to extend past their already powerful bodies, the Vinsmokes have created raid suits. These loving homages to Japanese sentai heroes allow their users the incredible speed, power, and strength of Rokushiki with the added benefit of giving character specific powers.

This has meant Reiju's poison mists, Yonji's added strength, Niji's electrical blasts, Ichiji's flame attacks, and Sanji's new gift of invisibility. With the added benefit of having cool transformation sequences, the raid suit is a must have for any superpowered family.

6 Fishman Martial Arts

The Fishmen have perhaps the strongest, most unique power set out of all the species in One Piece. Being people of the sea, the Fishmen are granted both incredible strength and a strong affinity for all water. Honing both qualities with precise movement, they have devised the different varieties of Fishman martial arts, different combat abilities that all utilize what is pretty much water-bending.

This has allowed characters to summon huge, destructive streams of water, launch droplets like bullets, and even manipulate and attack the moisture within their opponent's bodies. In the seafaring world of One Piece, these abilities are pretty useful.

5 Weather Control

The ability to control the weather has been an influential and devastating element across all of One Piece. In a world that requires traversing the seas to get to one's goal, the most consistent predator will always be the varying climates themselves. Nami to date has been the most prominent manipulator of weather, using both her keen knowledge and Clima-Tact to dish out weather-based attacks on her enemies.

However, there have been other instances of weather manipulation in the series. Crocodile used dance powder to mess with the natural climates of Alabasta. The Sky Island scientists have been researching new ways to harvest the weather. And to this day, fans are still pretty sure that Monkey D. Dragon has some Devil Fruit control over the weather or, at least, the wind.

4 Logia Devil Fruits

Devil Fruits have provided a menagerie of advantages to their different users. As the ultimate wild cards, Devil Fruits give near unpredictable traits to every battle. However, there is one type of fruit that is sought after even more and instantly grants the most flexible and godlike abilities of them all.

That would be the coveted Logia Types, Devil Fruits that turns their users into divine elementals. That means in addition to controlling a variety of elements between fire and ice, these users' bodies also take on the properties of their elements, making them essentially indestructible.

3 Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits

While Logia Types are pretty neat, there is another Devil Fruit type out there that is even rarer and grants even more spectacular powers. That would be the Mythical Zoan Type, a special brand of Zoan fruits that transform their users into mythical creatures.

With the physics bending abilities of the Logia and the strength enhancement of the Zoans, the Mythical Zoan Types are some of the most powerful characters in the world of One Piece. This has meant that Marco can become a near invincible and ever-healing phoenix, Kaido can become an all encompassing, sky dragon, and ex-Fleet Admiral Sengoku can transform into a literal, Buddha god.

2 Poseidon

One Piece - Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi - Poseidon

While it's hard to pin down an exact wording for Princess Shirahoshi's powers, whether they're a unique gift or some advanced form of the Voice of All Things, the end result will always be a frightening control over the seas' most powerful creatures. Sea Kings are the giant fish roaming One Piece's waters.

Their sizes can range from the sizes of villages to the size of countries, and they are a dominating force over any unsuspecting ship. As Poseidon, Shirahoshi has the special ability to both communicate and command the Sea Kings of the world, meaning that she has an entire kaiju army at her disposal.

1 Haki

A gift that allows any user to stand above all other fighters, Haki is the unique power that only some of the world's strongest and most well-trained characters can hone. Allowing people to harness their actual wills, Haki can grant special advancements to both one's strength and senses.

With Armament Haki, people can enhance the power of their attacks, harden their bodies, and reinforce their weapons. With Observation Haki, people can predict their opponent's intentions, sense the wills of all living beings within the vicinity, and see into the future. With the final and most powerful one, Conqueror's Haki, users are able to strike obedience into animals and knock out lesser wills with their own stare. Haki is a powerful weapon in any exchange, and it was a huge game changer for all of One Piece.
