One Piece is definitely one of our favorite anime out there, and we’re definitely not alone in thinking that since it’s one of the longest running manga of all time. We just haven’t gotten tired of Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew’s adventures and by the looks of things, there's more adventures to be had. Whatever the case, we're in!

So would it be such a big ask to have a live-action movie adaptation of the story of our favorite pirates trying to get their hands on the One Piece? We definitely don’t think so, and we’ve even gone so far as to fan cast our choices for actors to play the main characters in the series. Here are 10 actors that we think would do a great job in a live-action adaptation.

10 Finn Wolfhard As Luffy D. Monkey

Luffy is a pretty young guy at the beginning of One Piece, and he’s also kind of weirdo - and we're not saying it's because of his Devil Fruit powers. That being said, we couldn’t think of anyone better to play him than one of our resident teenage weirdo, Finn Wolfhard.

We’ve seen from Stranger Things that Finn is easily able to go from goofy to intense in the course of a single scene, and we think he could bring that range to playing our favorite pirate. Plus, Finn is making a name for himself in movies like the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife, so we figure he’s definitely down for the crazier, genre stuff.

9 Naomi Scott As Nami

Naomi Scott has appeared in a few movies in the past few years that have been received pretty lukewarmly; the recently rebooted Power Rangers, Aladdin, and Charlie’s Angels come to mind. But despite that, we really love her expressive features and her ability to move between playing different kinds of women.

She’s great at being emotionally vulnerable when the scene calls for it and also has played characters who are confident and forthright, as well as characters who are a mix of the two, and those are features we definitely want to see from someone playing Nami.

8 Zendaya As Vivi

Zendaya is just so cool. We’re so impressed with her no matter what she’s up to, be it singing or acting or appearing in extraordinary dresses at the Met Gala. She’s been everywhere in movies from Disney Channel to Spider-Man to The Greatest Showman, and we don’t think we’ll ever get tired of seeing her put on amazing costumes to do her thing.

All of these previous roles of hers make Zendaya a pretty solid fit for Vivi. Vivi is a princess and also a swashbuckler, and Zendaya is great at playing elegant, foolhardy and weird characters all at once. This is the kind of energy Vivi deserves.

7 Lakeith Stanfield As Sanji

We love Lakeith Stanfield in pretty much every role he’s been in, starting with his turn as the scene-stealing Darius in Atlanta. Lakeith has an amazing soft voice that seems to be able to express so much without going over the top, which is a perfect quality for someone playing Sanji, who is always cool, calm, and collected.

On top of that, Lakeith already has some experience playing an anime character, having appeared in the Netflix adaptation of Death Note. While we didn’t really love that adaptation for a variety of reasons, we can’t help but admit that Lakeith’s portrayal of L was excellent. His performance as Light's rival is something that could help bring Sanji to life.

6 Zac Efron As Zoro

We think it’s about time for Zac Efron to have a turn as an action hero, and there’s no action hero more fun in One Piece than Zoro, the Straw Hats swordsman. Zac got his acting start on High School Musical before expanding to some rather unconventional roles such as an unruly frat boy in Neighbors, so he’s no stranger to playing campy, over the top roles.

Zoro, while he’s usually pretty stoic, tends to have the biggest, goofiest emotional outbursts. On top of that, Zac is good looking and fit and would look pretty awesome with green hair, covered in scars from his many sword fights.

5 Cole Sprouse As Usopp

We couldn’t resist throwing Jughead from Riverdale at this one. Usopp is probably the goofiest member of the Straw Hat Pirates, and he’s also the most emotional. Aside from his huge nose, which would be pretty funny to see someone wearing as a prosthetic, he’s also emotionally over the top and tends to be a coward.

Cole Sprouse would be a great choice for this one, both for his experience playing a campy worrywart in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and because we love to watch him brood on Riverdale. Simply put, he's a perfect fit for Usopp!

4 Donald Glover As Tony Tony Chopper

So Tony Tony Chopper is a reindeer, which means that no matter what, he would probably have to be animated in a live-action adaptation of One Piece. Still, if we were going to choose an actor to give him a voice (and potentially a body, when he takes a more human form), we’d love to see Donald Glover do it.

Donald has a ton of range as an actor, but it’s his turn as Troy on Community that makes us think he’d be great for this role. We also know he’s good at doing voice acting, since he lent his voice to Miles Morales for the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

3 John Cena As Arlong

We can’t forget about the bad guys, and Arlong is literally the biggest bad guy out there. So, in keeping with tradition when it comes to casting big bad guys in movies, we decided to go with a professional wrestler. And not just any wrestler, mind, but one of the most popular superstars of the industry.

John Cena has recently been honing his acting skills in movies like Bumblebee and the ninth film in the Fast and the Furious franchise. We’re excited by the idea that this super muscular athlete, whose job it’s been for the past couple decades to both be good at action and at action, being the person to take on this role.

2 Florence Pugh As Nico Robin

Nico Robin is one of the more stoic members of the Straw Hat Pirates, and she doesn’t do a lot of emotional outbursts or shows of emotion in general. We feel like Florence Pugh would do really well with this role because of this, not because we think she doesn’t emote well but instead because of her voice.

Florence has a very even, soothing, almost raspy way of speaking, which immediately puts us at ease and makes her a great choice for a character who also isn’t very emotive. Plus, we’ve already seen from Fighting with My Family that she looks awesome with black hair!

1 Sebastian Stan As Shanks

We took one look at Shanks and knew immediately that he had to be played by Sebastian Stan. Shanks is captain of the Red Hair Pirates and is generally the coolest looking pirate we meet in an entire series about cool looking pirates. Like almost everyone in the series, he has a set of cool scars over his eye, and we think that Sebastian Stan could really rock this character.

He reminds us of the Winter Soldier and Jefferson from Once Upon A Time at the same time, with all of the casual confidence and none of the angst.
