In the world of One Piece, few characters are more powerful than Devil Fruit users. These rare individuals have consumed one of the legendary fruits, granting them strange powers that can be classified under one of three categories — Paramecia, Logia, or Zoan. However, an even smaller number of characters have mastered their powers to the point of awakening their Devil Fruit.

Awakened Devil Fruits are much stronger than they were before being awakened, and so far, only a few people in the entire Grand Line have demonstrated such prowess. Since more of these Devil Fruits are bound to show up in the final saga of One Piece, it's worth evaluating who their users might be.

Updated on July 8, 2023, by Kennedy King: The conclusion of the Wano Country Arc sees multiple Devil Fruit awakened, vastly increasing the total number of such fruit. With more information than ever available about Awakened Devil Fruits, it's easier than ever to predict which One Piece characters might wield them.

10 Sengoku

Human-Human Fruit, Model: Buddha

Sengoku Fighting Blackbeard during One Piece's Marineford Arc

Sengoku is a former Navy Fleet Admiral with a reputation for being one of the strongest Marines of the previous generation. He wields the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Buddha — a Mythical Zoan-type that no doubt played a major role in his rise to the top of the Navy.

Using his Devil Fruit, Sengoku is capable of not only transforming into a giant, golden version of himself but also creating massive shockwaves that emanate from his fists. While these shockwaves could very well be a normal part of Sengoku's Devil Fruit, it's equally plausible that the highest-ranking member of the Marines figured out how to awaken the powers of his Devil Fruit.

9 Boa Hancock

Love-Love Fruit

Boa Hancock using her Devil Fruit Power in One Piece.

Boa Hancock may be best remembered for her infatuation with Monkey D. Luffy, but the former Warlord of the Sea also happens to be one of the strongest characters in One Piece. Hancock's ability to wield all three forms of Haki plays a large role in her notoriety; however, it's her masterful use of the Love-Love Fruit that truly makes her dangerous.

Using the Love-Love Fruit, Boa Hancock can petrify any individual who feels love, lust, or adoration for her. In addition to this, she can infuse the ability with Armament Haki to create projectiles, indicating a level of proficiency that extends far beyond the average Devil Fruit user. It's entirely possible that its host of abilities is only possible because of an Awakened state.

8 Brook

Revive-Revive Fruit

Brook uses his new Soul Solid sword in One Piece

The Straw Hats meet Brook during the Thriller Bark Arc, and it is there they learn about his tragic backstory. His former crew has all passed away by the events of One Piece, and Brook is the sole survivor because of the Revive-Revive Fruit — a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows its user to come back to life one time.

Since One Piece's timeskip, Brook has demonstrated a number of different powers that revolve around his soul. He can manifest his soul outside his body, use it to reattach his skeletal remains, and infuse its power into his sword, freezing enemies. These powers seem to stem far outside the bounds of the Revive-Revive Fruit's traditional usage, so perhaps the Straw Hat Pirate's long-term use of the Devil Fruit led to its awakening.

7 Crocodile

Sand-Sand Fruit

Crocodile grinning, a cigar in his teeth, in One Piece's Impel Down Arc

Crocodile is a former Warlord of the Sea who now sails the seas of the New World as a regular pirate. He wields the powers of the Sand-Sand Fruit, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that helped make Crocodile's Baroque Works a major player in the first half of the Grand Line. It grants him the ability to transform into sand and control any that's in his vicinity.

At both Alabasta and Impel Down, Crocodile suggests he's taken his ability beyond the normal limits of the fruit. He can turn his immediate surroundings into sand and dehydrate anything that he comes into contact with, making Crocodile one of the few Logia users that could have legitimately awakened their Devil Fruit.

6 Marco The Phoenix

Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Phoenix

Marco the Phoenix trading blows with Marine Admiral Kizaru in One Piece's Marineford Arc

Marco the Phoenix is easily the most notable surviving member of the Whitebeard Pirates. As the crew's former First Division Commander, he is a tremendous fighter with the powers of the Bird-Bird Fruit, Model: Phoenix — a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit.

Given recent revelations regarding Awakened Zoan types, it's very possible that Marco the Phoenix has surpassed the ordinary limits of his Devil Fruit. The feared pirate can heal most injuries within seconds, and he can use his blue flames to heal others as well.

5 Fleet Admiral Akainu

Magma-Magma Fruit

Marine Admiral Akainu using the Magma-Magma Fruit in One Piece's Marineford Arc

Akainu is the Fleet Admiral of the Navy and is currently the Marines' strongest fighter. He wields the Magma-Magma Fruit, allowing him to generate, control, and transform into magma. Stated to be the most offensively powerful Logia-type Devil Fruit, it's possible that Akainu has tapped into the Magma-Magma Fruit's true potential.

In his fight against Aokiji, then-Admiral Akainu is able to completely change the atmosphere of half of Punk Hazard. Although he would be the first character to awaken a Logia-type Devil Fruit, it would be a fitting accomplishment for the Navy's strongest asset.

4 Marshall D. Teach

Dark-Dark Fruit

The Blackbeard Pirates emerge during the events of One Piece's Marineford Arc

Marshall D. Teach is one of the four Emperors of the Sea and commands a bounty of almost 4 billion Berries. He's an incredibly powerful character, and so far, he's the only individual in One Piece to ever wield two Devil Fruit powers. One of these powers, stemming from the Dark-Dark Fruit, allows Blackbeard to transform into darkness and control gravity, its greatest ability.

Blackbeard's gravitational abilities are powerful, but they pale in comparison to the Dark-Dark Fruit's ability to steal other Devil Fruit powers. Since Monkey D. Luffy recently awakened his own Devil Fruit, it only makes sense that Marshall D. Teach would have done so as well.

3 Monkey D. Dragon

Unknown Devil Fruit

Monkey D. Dragon, the father of Luffy and leader of the Revolutionary Army, in One Piece's Loguetown Arc

Also known as the World's Worst Criminal, Monkey D. Dragon is the leader of the Revolutionary Army. Although his identity and powers largely remain a mystery, there are several hints that point toward Dragon controlling the wind, if not entire weather patterns.

Considering Monkey D. Dragon's notorious status and powerful family members, he's likely an incredibly powerful fighter. His very first scene in One Piece seems to suggest that he can usher in storms, which, if true, could indicate one of the strongest Awakened Devil Fruits in the entire series.

2 Charlotte Linlin

Soul-Soul Fruit

Big Mom Chasing After The Straw Hats during the events of One Piece's Whole Cake Island Arc

As an Emperor of the Sea, Charlotte Linlin — better known as Big Mom — is feared throughout the Grand Line. Her Devil Fruit, the Soul-Soul Fruit, allows her to control souls. Using her Paramecia abilities, Big Mom can animate lifeless objects and create ultra-powerful weapons for her to use in combat.

In addition to Charlotte Linlin's ability to create sentient weapons, she can also steal the souls of other individuals, thus reducing their natural lifespans. While it's likely that her fight with Eustass Kid and Trafalgar D. Law would have revealed if her Devil Fruit was awakened, future flashbacks may reveal that she surpassed its normal limits long before the events of One Piece.

1 Kaido

Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon

Kaido, an Emperor of the Sea, during post-timeskip One Piece

Know as the World's Strongest Creature, Kaido is an Emperor of the Sea and one of the strongest pirates in the history of One Piece. He's a monstrous individual, and he possesses the powers of the Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, the Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon.

Kaido's normal Zoan-type transformations are marvelous, but he wields far more powers than most Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit users. In particular, the Devil Fruit's ability to produce Flame Clouds is noteworthy, as their design is very similar to that of Rob Lucci's Awakened form.
