Ryan Reynolds gets fans into the holiday spirit with a teaser trailer for Once Upon a Deadpool, featuring a rather prickly Fred Savage.
The center of the teaser is, of course, the new framing device, a callback to Savage's role in the beloved 1987 film The Princess Bride. However, in Once Upon a Deadpool, Savage isn't a precocious child being entertained by his grandfather, but instead a kidnapping victim, expected to lend the PG-13 edit of Deadpool 2 a dose of "childlike innocence."
But at age 42, and strapped to a bed with electrical tape, Savage isn't eager to exude childlike anything. Instead, he delivers a burn, hitting Deadpool right where it hurts. When the Merc with a Mouth insists this is a Marvel production, Savage clarifies, "Yeah, but you're, you know, Marvel licensed by Fox. It's like if the Beatles were produced by Nickelback: It's music, but it sucks!"
For ever ticked sold to Once Upon a Deadpool, $1 will be donated to the organization Fuck Cancer, which will change its name to the more PG-13-friendly "Fudge Cancer" for the duration of the 12 Days of Deadpool.
Appearing in theaters from Dec. 12 to Dec. 24, Once Upon a Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz, Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, Julian Dennison, Josh Brolin and Fred Savage.
