Though Quintavius “Quentin” Quire may have begun as one of Professor Xavier’s most brilliant and promising young students, as is often the case with young brilliant students, Quentin would rebel against the teaching of the all-too-forgiving professor.

While the young Quentin was naturally incredibly brilliant, he was also a frighteningly powerful telepath, telekinetic and a psionic of the highest order. This great power that was all help but such an angry and rebellious young man would eventually be his undoing. But being one of the fourteen confirmed Omega-level mutants post-Jonathan Hickman’s run on the iconic team, there’s rarely anything done that can’t be undone.

10 Created By Grant Morrison & Keron Grant

From DC favorites like Batman and Green Lantern to Marvel icons like the Fantastic Four and X-Men, even indie greats like Happy! And Spawn, Grant Morrison has crafted some of the greatest stories from any publisher in the past decade. During his run on New X-Men, however, Morrison, along with illustrator Keron Grant would create one of the most powerful and rebellious young mutants to ever find his way under Charles Xavier’s wing.

Though Quentin was a brilliant student and a powerful telepath, he wouldn’t be satisfied with the lessons that Xavier aimed to teach him.

9 Kicking The Habit

Quentin Quire as Kid Omega

Though Quentin was already a relatively powerful telepath, after receiving the news that he had been adopted (on his birthday no less), the young mutant found himself becoming more and more rebellious. Like many rebellious young people, one of the first stops on Quentin’s tour of rebellion was his local drug dealer.

However, unlike most people that experiment with drugs, Quentin went straight into some of the hardest stuff a young mutant can, a drug called kick. Kick was designed to boost the abilities of mutants around five times their normal levels. With his new power, Quentin would start to turn Xavier’s school upside down.

8 Kid Omega

Quentin may have begun to hit his rebellious youngster phase, but he certainly wasn’t the only one. After forming a group of other like-minded young people, Quentin and his newly-formed “Omega Gang” would not only wreak some havoc outside of Xavier’s school, killing a gang of humans but afterward, they would come back and cause trouble for Xavier and his entire school.

During parents’ day at the Xavier Institute, Quentin and the Omega Gang would cause a riot while holding Xavier captive using a thought-blocking helmet, similar to Magneto’s, to keep him captive.

7 Becoming Pure Energy

Stepford Cuckoos

During the riot, all hopped up on that sweet, sweet Kick, Quentin was nearly impossible to stop without the captive Professor Xavier. Though he and his Omega Gang had caused some damage to the school and frightened many of the students, some students were not willing to just sit idly by as Quentin took over the school. Enter: the Stepford Cuckoos, led by Sophie, Quentin’s crush.

Much like Quentin had done, the Stepford Cuckoos had used Kick in order to enhance their abilities and unleash a psionic attack that was capable of overwhelming Quentin in his boosted and Kick overdosed state. After this attack, however, and possibly due to his overuse of Kick, Quentin’s body began to break down under the pressure of his own psionic energy. This change resulted in a second mutation that would change Quentin’s brain into faster-than-light energy, rapidly expanding his abilities and deteriorating his body.

Kid Omega Quentin Quire

Though Quentin’s body may have disappeared, he remained in a semi-alive energy state which Beast kept in a containment unit in his lab. Luckily for Quentin, however, this is not a state of existence that would last long for the young man. A few months late, when the Phoenix Force had returned to Earth in search of Jean Grey, it felt a strong pull towards the Xavier Institute that it simply could not resist checking out in hopes of finding Jean.

While the Phoenix Force didn’t manage to find Jean, it did manage to make contact with and awake the young Quentin Quire. This experience was enough to shock Quentin back into a conscious state and from there he was able to reconstitute his body.

5 Kicked Off Schism

As part of a master plan set in place by Kade Kilgore, Quentin Quire was used to set off a new wave of anti-mutant sentiment. During Cyclops’ arms conference, Quentin took control of the World’s leaders and forced them to air their dark, dirty secret to the entire world on live television.

This act would be the final splinter in the already testy relationship that had formed between Wolverine and Cyclops. While Cyclops, having already started to become more and more extreme in his methods, wanted Quentin to be handled internally by the mutants, Wolverine hoped that Steve Rogers would be able to teach the young, and clearly powerful but misguided, Quentin how to better channel his anger and avoid him becoming an Omega-level baddie.

4 Quentin Quire And Wolverine

Knowing that if he should leave things in Scott’s hands, Quentin would be locked up and only grow more spiteful or the world around him, Wolverine forcefully took him to Steve Rogers himself. After convincing Rogers that locking him up would only serve to harm them in the future, Wolverine was allowed to take Quentin with him to the newly-formed Jean Grey School For Higher Learning.

Though Quentin was still on a short leash and forced into detention, he was freed when the Hellfire Club attacked the school. However, after their forces had been fought back, they sent in Krakoa who had been in place under the school. Though Krakoa had been their ace in the hole, so to speak, Quentin was able to talk Krakoa down and convince to join up with the X-Men.

After several students from the Jean Grey School For Higher Learning had defected and left to join the Hellfire Academy, Quentin also left in order to figure out what exactly was going on. Hoping to locate his friend Idie Okonkwo, Quentin joined the Hellfire Academy.

However, after it was discovered that Quentin’s sole interest in the school was to locate and free Idie, Quentin was taken captive and beaten. After being freed by Toad, Quentin, Idie, and Toad all escaped from the school after fighting their way out.

2 Future Quentin

Though Quentin Quire had originally been passed up by the Phoenix Force when he was in his pure energy state of existence, that wouldn’t always be the case. During the events of Battle Of The Atom, Quentin would come face to face with a version of himself that was not only much more powerful than him but was also the very capable host of the Phoenix Force.

This future version of Quentin didn’t have much time to converse with his past self, so he allowed Quentin only one question. Rather than take advantage of this opportunity, Quentin simply (jokingly) asked when he’d finally be able to escape his school.

1 The Construct

Being an Omega-level telepath, Quentin is a telepath second only to Jean Grey. His abilities far exceed those of any other telepathic mutant in existence. And as such, he has some pretty incredible abilities at his disposal. Perhaps on his most impressive abilities is what he calls “The Construct”.

This is an ability that allows Quentin to build an entire “world” inside of his head. This world is complete with an AI system and NPCs that each have their own unique backstories. Quentin is able to pull individuals into this game-like world, leaving their bodies in a comatose state while trapping the consciousnesses inside the Construct.
