The upcoming sequel to Netflix's Charlize Theron-led comic book film The Old Guard has added a pair of major new cast members.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Uma Thurman and Henry Golding have been tapped to star in The Old Guard 2, though it's currently unclear who they will be playing. Thurman and Golding join Theron, as well as KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo and Chiwetel Ejiofor, all of whom return from the first movie.

Thurman is, of course, known for her roles in the Quentin Tarantino films Pulp Fiction (1994) and Kill Bill (2003), the former of which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She is also known for playing the DC villain Poison Ivy in the 1997 film Batman & Robin. Some of her more recent projects include the Disney+ film Hollywood Stargirl and the Showtime series Super Pumped.

Meanwhile, Golding had his breakout role in the 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians. He went on to star as the lead character in the 2021 film Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Golding has also appeared in such films as A Simple Favor, Last Christmas and the upcoming Persuasion.

Based on the comic book series of the same name by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández, The Old Guard follows a group of immortal mercenaries on a quest for revenge. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood from a screenplay by written by Rucka himself, the film premiered on Netflix on July 10, 2020. Netflix reported that the film was viewed in approximately 72 million households during its first four weeks in release, placing it among the streaming platform's biggest original launches in history.

Netflix officially green-lit a sequel to The Old Guard in January 2021. Rucka returns to pen The Old Guard 2, with Victoria Mahoney (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) taking over as director. The sequel is said to be an adaptation of the original comic's second story arc. According to lead actor Theron herself, The Old Guard 2's script was completed as of June 2021, with filming expected to begin in 2022.

The Old Guard is currently streaming on Netflix. The upcoming sequel does not currently have a release date.
