Following a screening of the footage at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Warner Bros. has decided to unleash their full "Suicide Squad" sizzle reel on the public. The clip opens up with Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) prepping some well-dressed officials over dinner, telling them that she finally has them, "the worst of the worst." The footage then rolls through Enchantress going spelunking, Harley Quinn doing some elaborate prison cell yoga, Deadshot putting a punching bag to use, Killer Croc getting the Hannibal Lecter treatment and more.
Fittingly, Will Smith -- master of movie one-liners -- gets the titular line in this first look. And yep -- you can hear some of Margot Robbie's Brooklyn accent during a scene featuring Batman going for a ride on the roof of Joker's car. The clip closes up with a close-up peek at Jared Leto's Joker that lets you know what it's like to be one of his...well, audience members.
Considering the hard stance WB took against releasing the footage, the studio released the following statement along with the first look:
"Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation."
"Suicide Squad" opens on August 5, 2016.
