Calista Flockhart will indeed to return to "Supergirl" as the scene-stealing Cat Grant -- though maybe not as much as fans would like. Warner Bros. Television confirmed Monday afternoon that Flockhart will appear on "Supergirl" season two as a "recurring guest star," starting with the Oct. 10 season premiere on The CW.

It's not yet known exactly how frequently Flockhart will appear, but "Supergirl" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that she'll "continue on the show when she can."

"Supergirl wouldn't be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant," Kreisberg said in a statement. "We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen."

Flockhart's performance as Cat Grant -- Kara Danvers' boss and the head of media conglomerate CatCo -- was one of the most universally praised elements of "Supergirl" season one. Following the show's move from CBS to The CW and reported budget cuts, questions persisted among observers whether or not Flockhart -- the biggest name in the show's cast -- would make the cross-network leap, as she had previous not been officially confirmed to return.

The second season of "Supergirl" is slated to begin 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 on The CW.
