While chibi versions of Harry Potter characters have been around nearly as long as the novels themselves, the illustrations have never been official -- until now. Needless to say, they're adorable.

Warner Bros. and J.K. Rowling have given their blessing to a line of anime-style Harry Potter merchandise, available exclusively in Japan (although we imagine enterprising fans in other countries will discover a way to conjure the products). It debuted with a pack of 12 cards/files, featuring such characters as Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco and even Hedwig.

The cards can be found in anime specialty stores for about $3.15 each. The merchandise will expand in the spring to include rubber stamps, pins and keychains.
