"Officer Downe" Film Adds "Zombieland," "Dexter" Stars

The feature film adaptation of "Office Downe," a graphic novel published in 2010 by Man of Action Studios and Image Comics, has added a quartet of names to its cast and begun principal photography.

Tyler Ross ("Zombieland") will play Officer Gable, Lauren Velez ("Dexter") will play Police Chief Berringer, and Reno Wilson ("Mike & Molly') and Bruno Gunn ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire") will play Officers Carter and Fritch, respectively. These new additions will join "Sons of Anarchy's" Kim Coates, who joined the cast in the lead role of Officer Downe back in February.

"We couldn't have asked for a better group of actors here," said Joe Casey, who wrote the "Officer Downe" OGN. "They way they're all bringing the thunder, we're absolutely gonna melt brains with this flick."

"Officer Downe" featured art by Chris Burnham and told the hyper-violent story of an unkillable police officer on a mission to wipe out a city filled with criminals. The film adaptation is being handled by Slipknot's Shawn "Clown" Crahan, who has directed a number of Slipknot documentaries and music videos.

Man of Action Entertainment -- which is comprised of Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle -- recently made headlines with the announcement that Kelly's "I Kill Giants" has been targeted for a feature film adaptation. The collective has also created series like "Generator Rex" and "Ben10" and serve as co-executive producers and writers on "Marvel's Avengers Assemble" cartoon. Disney's "Big Hero 6" featured characters created by Man of Action as well.

Officer Downe is based on the graphic novel written by Casey and illustrated by Burnham released on the Man of Action imprint at Image Comics. Man of Action Entertainment is comprised of creators and acclaimed comic book writers Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle, having collectively worked on the largest franchise characters in comics from Superman to X-Men before refocusing on creating worlds and characters for their own original work published through their Man of Action imprint at Image Comics. They also created cult favorite series Generator Rex for Cartoon Network, and are co-executive producers and writers for Marvel's Avengers Assemble. Man of Action has created wildly successful video games, toy lines, comic books, stage productions, as well as forthcoming feature films and live action television shows, most of which are based on their own original comic book series and graphic novels. Big Hero 6, Disney's Academy Award®-winning film, was the first animated feature based on a Marvel property, featured the team and characters created by Man of Action. Upcoming projects based upon other Man of Action creations include The Great Unknown, KAFKA, I Kill Giants and The Crusades.
