Oeming donates sizable contribution to ACTOR

Press Release

Michael Avon Oeming has made a $1000 donation to ACTOR (A Commitment To Our Roots) Comic Fund through publisher Michael Yanover in recognition of the new collected edition of Bulletproof Monk, published by Flypaper Press and Image Comics.

Bulletproof Monk, originally published in 1998-1999, combines the coolness of a kung-fu action story with classic comic book heroism, creating a truly special story. The new collection, which combines the original three separate comic book issues together with new, never-before-seen artwork by Michael Avon Oeming, is out now and is available in bookstores [ISBN #1-58240-244-2] everywhere, as well as at comic stores via Diamond Comics Distribution [STAR16331]. "Bulletproof Monk" is also currently in production as a feature film at MGM, scheduled for a 2003 release, and stars Chow Yun-Fat ("Crouching Tiger") and Seann William Scott ("American Pie").

The new collection provided a perfect opportunity for Oeming, the artist of the series, to recognize ACTOR. "It was a natural fit that we use the royalties from the new collection to benefit ACTOR. Both ACTOR and Bulletproof Monk emulate similar qualities…action, love and sacrifice," said Oeming.

"Mike Oeming's great artwork on this series was really groundbreaking. It's artists like Mike that truly inspire the rest of us. Mike is a wonderful talent and we are proud to have worked with him on this project, and look forward to continuing to work with him in the future," said Michael Yanover, Executive Producer of the "Bulletproof Monk" film and President and Publisher of Flypaper Press.
