The series will take place between Episodes III & IV and show what Obi-Wan was up to years before he began to train Luke to be a Jedi. Fans have a number of theories that they hope come true about the show ranging from sure-fire bets and those on a wish list of what they hope to see.

10 Obi-Wan Removes Himself From The Force

Obi-Wan shoots at stormtroopers during a battle

A notable shot from the Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer was Obi-Wan firing a blaster at an unseen enemy; presumably stormtroopers. Fans would be quick to remember during Episode III that after Obi-Wan defeated General Grievous by firing a blaster at his heart, he remarked that blasters were: "so uncivilized".

This leads to the question as to why Obi-Wan is using a blaster in the first place. Fans have theorized that Obi-Wan has cut himself off from the Force in order to keep Darth Vader and the Empire from tracking him down. Otherwise, why wouldn't Obi-Wan just use his lightsaber?

9 Obi-Wan Defeats Vader Again

When it was first announced that Obi-Wan would receive his own series, fans attention immediately went to whether or not Darth Vader would appear; feeling that he must. Disney answered the fans' calls and announced that not only would Vader return, but he would be portrayed by Hayden Christensen; who played Anakin Skywalker in the Prequel Trilogy.

In Episode IV, Vader remarks to Obi-Wan that the last time they met Vader was merely the student, but now he was a master. At first, one would assume that he was referring to their climactic battle on Mustafar in Episode III. Now it is clear that they will face off once again, and Obi-Wan should emerge victorious once again.

8 Qui-Gon Jinn Returns As Force Ghost

Before going into hiding at the end of Episode III, Yoda tells Obi-Wan that he has training for him; to learn to communicate with Force ghosts. Obi-Wan is stunned to find out that he will be able to communicate with his old master Qui-Gon Jinn; played superbly by the great Liam Neeson in Episode I.

Fans feel that this cameo is a given because of how strong the bond was between Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. Obi-Wan clearly feels regret over how Qui-Gon was killed by Darth Maul, and it is something that he has carried with him his whole life. Expect to see Neeson once again returning to the world of Star Wars for the series.

7 Other Jedi Outside Of Obi-Wan Appear

The trailers have shown that a group called The Inquisitors will appear in the show. The Inquisitors' role is to hunt down any remaining Jedi who may have survived Order 66; the order to eliminate the Jedi as seen in Episode III. The group has appeared in various Star Wars media and are a force to be reckoned with.

Their inclusion, led by The Grand Inquisitor, in the show has fans wondering if they will see other Jedi in the series. Will Jedi such as Ahsoka Tano be reaching out to Obi-Wan for help? Will Obi-Wan even stay hidden from Jedi seeking him out?

6 Commander Cody Is Still At The Empire's Disposal

Commander Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi

Disney surprised a lot of fans not only when Boba Fett appeared on The Mandalorian, but also that he was played by Temuera Morrison, the actor who played Jango Fett in the Prequel Trilogy. Morrison also played the role of Commander Cody in the Prequel Trilogy, a clone who was given Order 66 by the Emperor and turned on Obi-Wan.

Commander Cody's fate is unknown at the end of the film, which has fans thinking he may be continuing his work alongside the Empire. It's possible that Obi-Wan could cross paths with him once again, and it would be a great way to keep Morrison in the story given his appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

5 Yoda Is Communicating With Obi-Wan

While Yoda mentioned to Obi-Wan that he would train him to communicate with Qui-Gon Jinn, the two were not seen together again until Episode V when they tried to prevent Luke from leaving Dagobah to face Vader. Will viewers get to see Yoda training Obi-Wan in this series?

Fans do see it as a 50/50 shot; especially with the explosion of popularity in Grogu from The Mandalorian. It is also possible that Yoda will only appear vocally, offering Obi-Wan guidance in his newfound dilemma and in dealing with Vader.

4 Darth Maul Crosses Paths With Obi-Wan Once Again

Lightsaber Battle In Star Wars: The Clone Wars

In the time period that the series is taking place in, Obi-Wan has unresolved issues with Darth Maul stemming from Maul killing Qui-Gon Jinn in Episode I. As Maul was presumed dead after Obi-Wan sliced him in half, it turned out that Maul indeed survived the ordeal. Obi-Wan had several run-ins with Maul during The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels series as well.

While fans would love to see Obi-Wan and Darth Maul cross paths again in live-action, it seems unlikely and should be put on more of a wishlist for the series. It is rumored that Maul was intended to be in the show before it was ultimately re-written and had Darth Vader added instead. Perhaps a fleeting mention of Darth Maul in the series would suffice.

3 Obi-Wan: The Watchful Protector

Shots from the trailer revealed that Obi-Wan has been keeping a watchful eye on Luke Skywalker. Obi-Wan even meets with Owen Lars and says that the boy needs to be trained, only to be rebuffed, with Lars saying: "like you trained his father?"

Fans will be able to relate to Obi-Wan keeping an eye on Luke, but there is a lot of hope that this isn't the focal point of the show. Viewers have been treated to nine films concerning the Skywalker family, and it would be nice to branch out and focus more on Obi-Wan's journey outside of watching over Luke.

2 Barriss Offee As An Inquisitor

Bariss Offee from Star Wars: The Clone Wars

As The Inquisitors will be appearing, some fans have theorized that Barriss Offee will be included in the group. Offee appeared primarily in The Clone Wars animated series and was a Jedi that was a close friend of Ahsoka Tano. Offee later betrayed Tano and was eventually defeated by Anakin Skywalker.

After the fall of the Republic, perhaps Anakin; now as Darth Vader, convinced or forced Offee to join the Inquisitors. Vader may have appealed to Offee's disillusioned views of the Jedi to get her to join. It would be great to see her in live-action as part of the group and could further the ties between her and Ahsoka, who is also getting her own series on Disney+.

1 Connection to Other Disney+ Shows

Stills From Star Wars shows on Disney+

Disney+ started its journey into Star Wars with The Mandalorian in 2019, and now there are a number of shows that have either been released or are in development. With Obi-Wan Kenobi drawing from three important eras of Star Wars, one has to wonder if there will be any connection to other Disney+ shows, even though Obi-Wan Kenobi is being presented as a limited series.

Hayden Christensen has already been confirmed for the upcoming Ahsoka, so it gives Ahsoka Tano a good shot of appearing in Obi-Wan Kenobi, especially since she already appeared in The Mandalorian as well. Only time will tell how standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi truly is, but fans are expecting cameos across the board.
