Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the most well-known Jedi of the Star Wars universe, having established his reputation in the original film. Although initially serving as a mentor, he had a phenomenal number of opportunities to show his skill throughout the Clone Wars.

Over Kenobi's career, he faced off against powerful opponents like Darth Maul and even Anakin Skywalker. Kenobi's greatest feats of strength are proof that he was the most powerful Jedi of his era and how significant his help actually was to the Council's cause.

10 Obi-Wan Defeated Darth Maul On Naboo

At first, it seemed as if Darth Maul would overwhelm the heroes during the battle for Naboo. He fended off the combined assault of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, even managing to separate them by using the bunker's natural defense systems.

After Qui-Gon's death, Kenobi flew into a rage and renewed his assault. Although Maul managed to launch him off the platform, he managed to leap back up and slice the Sith in half. Unfortunately, this would not be the last time that the two battled.

Durge was a servant of the Separatists who led their forces against the clones. In addition to his frightening strength, the villain could regenerate almost endlessly and managed to "devour" Obi-Wan at one point in their fight.

Fortunately, Kenobi was able to turn the tide against his abhorrent opponent by carving through his chest and exploding him into scraps of flesh. Not only did he manage to subdue Durge, but he also led his soldiers to a decisive victory through a brutal jousting engagement earlier that day.

8 Obi-Wan Held Off Vader While The Heroes Escaped

During the dangerous foray into the Death Star, the heroes were doggedly being pursued by Darth Vader. To buy time, Obi-Wan Kenobi engaged him in a duel while Luke's party continued to flee.

Although the battle was a loss, Kenobi forfeited willingly after his intended goal had been met. He understood that he was held back by his age, his opponent's body had been strengthened with cybernetics, and there would be an extremely limited amount of time to win before stormtrooper reinforcements arrived to finish the battle dishonorably.

7 Obi-Wan Assisted Luke As A Ghost When No One Else Did

Obi-Wan visits Luke on Hoth

Obi-Wan was the only Jedi to visit Luke as a ghost during his journey to overthrow Darth Vader and save the galaxy. In addition to his timeless advice to use the Force on the planet of Hoth, he also told him to go to the Dagobah system.

Such advice would inevitably deliver the legendary hero into the capable hands of Yoda, who would further his physical and spiritual training. Kenobi's thoughtfulness to visit his former student from beyond the grave illustrates the resilience of his spirit and foresight for the future.

6 Obi-Wan Forced Jango's Retreat & Put A Tracker On His Ship

Jango Fett vs Obi-Wan

After realizing Jango Fett's identity and allegiances, Obi-Wan pursued him into the stormy weather of Kamino. The two battled briefly, though it wasn't long before Fett realized how outclassed he was.

With his son's assistance, he narrowly managed to escape the Jedi's wrath. However, Kenobi didn't leave the fight empty-handed; by putting a tracker on the Slave I, he was able to identify where Fett would be going next, how to intercept him, and the current location of his employers.

The order was responsible for eradicating almost every member of the Jedi Council except for Yoda and Obi-Wan. Kenobi had the more unfavorable situation of the two warriors but was still able to escape the oppressive fire of artillery guns on a heavily clone-occupied planet. This showcases his skill and discretion when necessary.

4 Obi-Wan Killed Maul On Tattooine

After the end of the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire, the lives of both Darth Maul and Obi-Wan Kenobi were destroyed. The only thing the latter had left was the desire to slake his revenge; as a result, he hunted his Jedi rival to Tattooine and confronted him for a final battle.

Although the fight was intense, Kenobi managed to strike down his Sith counterpart with all of the grace and skill he knew from his youth. Once Maul was defeated, Obi-Wan treated his body with respect in spite of the atrocities he had committed against him.

3 Obi-Wan Forced Cad Bane's Retreat

Obi-Wan managed to track down notorious bounty hunter Cad Bane and confront him with two lightsabers. Despite the villain's inability to use the Force, he put up a reasonable struggle and nearly managed to overpower his opponent with an electric shock.

However, Kenobi and Quinlan Vos were able to continuously push him back and force his retreat. In the end, Cad's decision to flee from the master Jedi concretely spelled his defeat, even if he was not successfully captured.

2 Obi-Wan Fought & Killed General Grievous

Obi-Wan's feud with General Grievous was almost as brutal and longstanding as the one with Maul. However, the cyborg was a much more relevant target since he was the commander of the droid forces and a figurehead of the Separatist movement.

Kenobi battled Grievous multiple times throughout the Clone Wars, usually defeating him only to be disrupted by a factor outside of his control. During the battle for Utapau, however, he managed to corner and shoot down the villain by prying open his chest plates and landing several successive blaster bolts to the chest.

1 Obi-Wan Stopped Anakin At Mustafar & Put His Duty First

Obi-Wan confronts Anakin at the end of Revenge of the Sith

Obi-Wan was one of the few Jedi remaining who were simultaneously wise enough to reason with Anakin on Mustafar and skilled enough to defend himself if he refused to turn back. After the Sith crushed Padmé's throat using the Force, the two former friends had a fiery battle that would define the fate of the universe.

Although Anakin was mostly aggressive throughout the duel, Kenobi got the upper hand when landing on higher ground. Emboldened by the dark side, the villain attempted to leap over his mentor, only to be sliced to pieces.
