Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow disclosed whether more stories are being planned for Ewan McGregor's titular Jedi Master in the Star Wars universe after the upcoming Disney+ limited series.

In an interview for the latest print issue of Total Film, Chow revealed that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series tells a standalone story and does not set up future seasons or tease spinoffs. "We really did conceive this like a beginning, middle, and end," the director said. "It is one big story, and it was always meant to be. You can never tell what happens in the future. But, if another series were to happen, it would be the same process of making sure that there was a real story to tell. Ours is obviously very connected to the prequels, but I love the idea that there can be more stories that are all over the timeline."

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy previously revealed in March 2022 that the "approach has always been that [Obi-Wan] is one full story" and that future seasons would only happen if a good enough idea came along. "Everybody came together and had such an incredible time. Ewan [McGregor] had an incredible time. Hayden [Christensen] had an incredible time. So certainly from that point of view, everybody involved would love to see this not end," Kennedy said. "But we have to really spend our time asking the question: Why would we do it? If we were to decide to do anything more with the Obi-Wan character, we'd have to really answer the question why?"

McGregor, who reprises the role for the first time since the Star Wars prequels ended in 2005, has mentioned that he would be more than willing to play Obi-Wan again. "[It] was nice to come back and to bridge that gap between me and Alec Guinness['s version from A New Hope]," the actor said. "I got as much, or more, out of playing him this time than I did in the first three movies put together. That's to do with the writing, and the people we were making the series with, and the technology, and how different everything is. ... [If] we were to get an opportunity to do it again, I'd be totally up for that."
