Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 is allegedly in development.

According to reputable source MakingStarWars.net, which cites an insider privy to Disney's plan, the success of Obi-Wan Kenobi's first three episodes has pushed the studio into developing a follow-up season. At the time of writing, it's unknown whether the Jedi master's return will be a standard season of television or take a different form entirely. Neither Disney nor Lucasfilm have officially announced Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 but star Ewan McGregor has already noted that if he "were to get an opportunity to [play Obi-Wan] again, I’d be totally up for that."

The report also claims that minor tweaks are currently being made to Obi-Wan Kenobi to facilitate the story's continuation. According to the source, Reva Sevander (Moses Ingram) was originally planned to die at the hands of Darth Vader. This is no longer the case and the series has been amended to leave the rageful Inquisitor's fate up to interpretation, allowing her to return for Season 2. MakingStarWars.net also hedges their information, noting that the production of films and series is constantly changing, making it difficult to accurately predict Disney's future plans.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently making waves amongst the Star Wars community, with the premiere episode shooting to the top of Disney+'s most-watched list. The series follows the titular Jedi Master, once again played by McGregor, as he attempts to survive in a galaxy that is actively hunting down and killing his kind. The show has been lauded by fans and critics alike, many of whom praised its darker tone and compelling performances.

McGregor isn't the only Star Wars veteran to return to the galaxy far, far away. Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, returns in the role of Darth Vader. He's not alone though, as James Earl Jones, who has voiced the imposing Sith Lord since Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, once again lends his talents to the iconic villain.

Speaking about once again donning Darth Vader's helmet, Christensen explained that the decision to return to Star Wars didn't require much consideration. "It was a no-brainer. In a heartbeat. When I got the call, I was instantly elated... I was just so excited to get to come back after all these years," Christensen said.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is now streaming on Disney+ with new episodes arriving every Wednesday.
