Sung Kang will be playing a previously established Star Wars character in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+.
According to a report from Cinelinx, Kang will be playing the Fifth Brother, a recurring villain from Star Wars Rebels. Originally voiced by Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, the Brother is a member of the Inquisition, a clandestine group trained in the ways of the Force who use their skills to hunt down the last remnants of the Jedi Order and reinforce the Empire's rule throughout the galaxy. Kang himself has been tight-lipped about the series overall, but he did promise that his character would have "a sexual deliciousness" to him.
In the same report, it was rumored that Kenobi will also feature a young Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa as part of the series and that Vivien Lyra Blair has been cast as the young Princess of Alderaan. Cinelinx reports that the young Leia will be a part of Kenobi "in a big way" and that her role in the story is "pretty much the impetus for the whole show" and "what gets Obi-Wan into another adventure." Series star Ewan McGregor previously teased the possibility of Luke appearing on the show but didn't confirm anything.
Beyond McGregor returning as the titular Jedi-in-exile, the only other confirmed characters to appear are Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader, Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Owen and Beru Lars, respectively, among others whose roles have yet to be revealed. The series will be directed by Deborah Chow and has not received an official release date. The series is set to release on Disney+ in 2022.
