The poster for the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale hides a clever reference to Star Wars: A New Hope.

The poster, drawn by artist Doaly, portrays the titular Jedi Master traversing a hill of sand dunes shaped to resemble the front of Darth Vader's iconic helmet. The caption below reads, "You can't escape him." Notably, the text's font is reminiscent of the style used for one of the promotional posters of A New Hope, serving as a subtle reference to the fate that eventually awaits Obi-Wan on the Death Star.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has previously taken inspiration from several elements of the original Star Wars trilogy. Though the series is set before the events of A New Hope, there are some several similarities with George Lucas' classic sci-fi adventure, such as Obi-Wan sneaking into an Imperial stronghold in search of Leia Organa. Another scene showcases the Jedi Master using the Force to distract a pair of stormtroopers, a tactic he used during his infiltration of the Death Star. Tala Durith can additionally be seen using a comlink device similar to the ones used by the crew of the Millenium Falcon.

Obi-Wan Kenobi also includes references to the prequel trilogy. The show's fifth episode incorporated a flashback to the days of the Republic, giving audiences another glimpse into the lives of Obi-Wan and his former Padawan Anakin Skywalker during the time of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Fans on social media praised the sequences for adding another layer to the relationship between the two characters, as well as lending weight to their tragic duel in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

Actor Hayden Christensen, who portrayed the adult version of Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in the prequel trilogy, previously discussed the intense physical conditioning he underwent to reprise his role in Obi-Wan Kenobi. "I think that process was very important to me," Christensen said. "I needed to become that character again, physically. I just consumed as many calories as possible. I put on 25 pounds to fill out that [Darth Vader] suit." As for whether or not he sees himself donning the outfit for a future Star Wars project, Christensen said he's keen to continue appearing as the iconic Sith Lord. "There are so many other stories that have been told in these other mediums and I would love to get to continue my journey with [Darth Vader]," Christensen said.
