The first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi hasn't hit Disney+ yet, but questions are already being asked about the potential for a Season 2.

For series director Deborah Chow, the six-episode first season tells a complete story. "It was definitely conceived as a limited series, and it is one big story with a beginning, middle, and end," she told EW. "The approach has always been that it is one full story." However, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is more open to continuing the story. "It's certainly something we talk about," she revealed.

Kennedy explained that, although there are reasons to continue the show, it ultimately depends on whether there is more story to tell. "Everybody came together and had such an incredible time. Ewan [McGregor] had an incredible time. Hayden [Christensen] had an incredible time. So certainly from that point of view, everybody involved would love to see this not end. But we have to really spend our time asking the question: Why would we do it? If we were to decide to do anything more with the Obi-Wan character, we'd have to really answer the question why?"

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and sees the Jedi Master in hiding, following the fall of the Jedi Order and the rise of the Empire. The events of Revenge of the Sith, the murder of his fellow Jedi and the fall to the dark side of his ex-Padawan Anakin Skywalker, have left Kenobi in his own dark place. "We find Obi-Wan at the beginning of our story rather broken," said McGregor. "And faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up."

As well as having to deal with the events of the past, Kenobi also has to face the dangers of the present as the Empire has sent the force-sensitive Inquisitors to hunt the remaining Jedi. The trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi introduced Moses Ingram as Reva/Third Sister. According to Ingram, Reva, the Grand Inquisitor and Darth Vader "share a common dark-side goal" and are "on the same team."

Darth Vader will once again be played by Hayden Christensen and Chow spoke about how it felt to see the iconic character on set for the first time. "When he first came on set for us, it definitely had a very special feeling," she said. "The first time I saw him in costume, he was towering over me. He was literally almost twice my size!"

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 25.
