This article contains major spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi Part VI, now streaming on Disney+.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's final episode includes a cameo by one of Star Wars' most beloved characters.

Towards the end of the finale, Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor), having moved past the trauma of "killing" Anakin Skywalker, successfully makes contact with the Force ghost of his former master, Qui-Gon Jinn. Liam Neeson reprises his role as the Jedi Knight, who mentions that while Kenobi may not have been able to see him, he was always by his side.

While Qui-Gon's cameo came as a surprise to Obi-Wan, many fans were confident that Neeson's character would return in the latest Star Wars series. At various points in the show, Obi-Wan attempts to speak with Qui-Gon, with his requests being met with silence.

Despite dying at the hands of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon has remained a popular character amongst the Star Wars community. While it's currently unknown whether Disney and Lucasfilm have any plans to further utilize the Jedi Master in future live-action projects, Neeson will once again reprise the role for the upcoming Tales of the Jedi animated anthology series. Beyond Qui-Gonn, these shorts will also feature stories dedicated to Count Dooku and Ahsoka Tano.

As for Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's currently unknown whether the titular character will return for a second season. A recent report claims that Disney, impressed with the success of the show's first season, has already greenlit an official follow-up but this has yet to be officially confirmed. Both McGregor and his co-star Hayden Christensen have stated that they would be open to returning for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2.

"I got as much, or more, out of playing him this time than I did in the first three movies put together," McGregor said. "That’s to do with the writing, and the people we were making the series with, and the technology, and how different everything is. ... [If] we were to get an opportunity to do it again, I’d be totally up for that."

Despite McGregor's enthusiasm, director Deborah Chow insisted that Obi-Wan Kenobi was devised as a limited series but that the future remains a mystery. "It is one big story, and it was always meant to be," Chow said. You can never tell what happens in the future. But, if another series were to happen, it would be the same process of making sure that there was a real story to tell."
