Audiences can now journey behind the scenes to learn how Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi series came together in Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi's Return.

Disney+ dropped a trailer announcing the arrival of the documentary special, set to be released on Disney+ Day on Sept. 8. The trailer features actors Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, touching on their long-awaited return to the franchise, as well as director Deborah Chow, who discussed the pressure of fleshing out an iconic Star Wars character for the streaming service.

Other trailer clips reveal how Obi-Wan Kenobi's action scenes came together, from McGregor and Christensen choreographing their lightsaber skills to a stunt team setting up Darth Vader's fights against his former Master. The clips also heavily focus on newcomer Vivien Lyra Blair as young Leia Organa, who can be seen interacting with cast members and even a red astromech droid.

The six-episode Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries marked McGregor and Christensen's official return to Star Wars as their prequel trilogy characters. Its story followed a now-reclusive Obi-Wan -- now going by his famous New Hope moniker Ben Kenobi -- who temporarily breaks his exile in Tatooine to rescue a kidnapped Leia at the insistence of her adopted father Bail Organa, played once again by actor Jimmy Smits. This eventually puts him on the radar of Imperial Inquisitors and eventually Darth Vader himself.

Outside of McGregor, Christensen and Smits, Obi-Wan Kenobi's final episode featured two more major prequel-era cameos, with Ian McDiarmid and Liam Neeson briefly returning as Emperor Palpatine and Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, respectively. However, the series also incorporated elements of modern Disney-era Star Wars into live-action, such as specific Inquisitor characters from Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's Fortress Inquisitorius.

Where Does Obi-Wan Go From Here?

It's uncertain whether or not there will be a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Disney+ and Lucasfilm currently have several series in development, including the upcoming Ahsoka series, which will share Obi-Wan Kenobi's episode length, as well as one of its principal characters.

It was reported early on that Christensen's time as Darth Vader will continue in the upcoming Ahsoka series, though it's uncertain how large of a role he will play. Fans will remember Ahsoka was once Anakin Skywalker's apprentice when he was still a member of the Jedi Order.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently streaming on Disney+. Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi's Return will premiere on Sept. 8.
