Ewan McGregor was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live and he revealed that Obi-Wan Kenobi will have a slightly new look when the long-awaited Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series is finally released.

It started when Kimmel asked McGregor what it felt like to be donning the famous Obi-Wan costume for the first time since 2005's Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and the actor first expressed joy about the project (noting "It feels great") before adding that the costume might surprise fans by being different than the last one he wore in the final film of the Star Wars prequels.

"The costume is probably slightly different than you might expect, but to go back into the role, shall we say, is great," McGregor explained. "It's all still there, it feels good. It's great scripts and great people to work with and it's great, I'm having a great time."

Obi-Wan's outfits had been surprisingly consistent throughout the Star Was prequels, with the big difference being Obi-Wan becoming a Jedi Master and his shirt under his robes changing from white to light brown/beige. During the original Star Wars films, Obi-Wan's outfit is slightly different when he shows up in A New Hope, but some of that seems just to the aged condition of his clothes.

Interestingly, when McGregor did the test footage for Obi-Wan Kenobi, he wore literally the same outfit as he did in the prequels, noting, "We did it properly. It was a funny moment walking on set because it was a lot of The Mandalorian crew and I walked on – for me it was a big moment. I walked into the dressing room and there were my beige cloaks and my belts and boots and it was like – 'oh my god'."

It will be fascinating to see what changes they make to Obi-Wan's iconic outfit for the new series, but we will have some time to wait until we finally see it.

Directed by Deborah Chow, Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, Moses Ingram, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie and Maya Erskine. The series has yet to receive a premiere date.
