NYCC | We’re having a party, everybody’s swingin’ …

With the New York Comic Con coming up Feb. 6-8, we’ll be collecting and posting information on the various things you can do and see while at the show. If you’re a publisher, creator, retailer or otherwise exhibiting at the show, feel free to drop me an email with your booth schedule, any comics you might be debuting, giveaways or any other fun stuff you have planned for the show.

General information: Ticket info | Panels | Autographs | 2009 ICv2 Graphic Novel Conference | Blog

Dave & Buster’s Times Square has been named the official “con bar” for the New York Comic Con, and they’ll host a party Thursday, Feb. 5 to help kick everything off. Guests include Joe Quesada, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner, Mark Brooks and more. The part will include a raffle benefiting the Hero Initiative. More details on the party can be found here.

• Speaking of the Hero Initiative, I mentioned in a previous update that they’re holding an art auction in New York. They’re started previewing some of the art on their blog:

And if you aren’t attending the show, they’ll accept proxy bids. More details can be found on their website.

The Perhapanauts creators, Todd Dezago and Craig Rousseau, will be at the show, and Todd sent over some info on what they’ll be up to:

Craig (Rousseau) and I will be at our own PERHAPANAUTS table in Artist’s Alley, where we’ll have all the various PERHAPANAUTS shwag that’s come out over the past year or so! We’ll have Issue’s 1 through 5 (our first complete story arc!), as well as the jump-onboard ANNUAL and copies of the ever-popular–and extremely rare–MONSTER PILE-UP! We have buttons and t-shirts and prints as well. We’ll also have free Choopie Butt cards and if you don’t have one, you oughta come over and see what you’re missing!

• Via Medium at Large, Lance Fensterman’s blog about all things NYCC and other stuff: Chuck Executive Producers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak will attend the show. J. Michael Straczynski, however, will not be in New York, because they conflict with the BAFTA Awards:

I’ve got some bittersweet news for everyone. Changeling has been nominated for several British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards including Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Screenplay. What’s bittersweet about this? The BAFTA Ceremony takes place February 8 in London, and our friend J. Michael Straczynski — the writer of Changeling — needs to be in London through the entirety of NYCC for the BAFTA ceremony.

• And finally, speaking of Lance, Tom Spurgeon over at The Comics Reporter ran an interview with him yesterday. Per Lance, the New York Comic Con is the fourth-largest event in the city now, which is pretty amazing after only three years in existence and it being, you know, New York City.
