NYCC: Titan Taps Van Lente, Calero for New "Assassin's Creed: Templars" Series

As announced at New York Comic Con today, writer Fred Van Lente ("Marvel Zombies," "Iron Man") and artist Dennis Calero ("Cowboys & Aliens," "X-Men Noir") will pen a new "Assassin's Creed: Templars" ongoing series for Titan Comics.

"Assassin's Creed: Templars" will be Titan's second series in Ubisoft's extended universe. Last June, a series titled simply "Assassin's Creed" was announced by the publisher. Writers Anthony Del Col and Conor McCreery and artist Neil Edwards are attached to that project.

DC Comics previously held the "Assassin's Creed" comic book license, releasing a series by Karl Kerschl and Cameron Stewart in 2010. Michael Fassbender is currently attached to star in a movie based on the franchise, and the next game in the series, "Assassin's Creed Syndicate," is slated to arrive in stores this October.

"Assassin's Creed: Templars" will be available at retailers in early 2016.
